Joanna B (au) wrote: The idea of a younger man seducing an older women to elevate his status is not new, 'Toy-boys' has been an affectionate title for a number of decades for these free-loving youthful lotharios, but since the release of Sex in the City and other empowered-women-over-the-age-of-30 shows women in these relationships now also have a title, 'Cougars'.Easily the best known Toy-boy and Cougar outfit in Hollywood is Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. So little shock it may provide when art imitates life and Ashton sinks his career enhancing teeth into a hard biting story about the trials and tribulations of sleeping your way to the top of the LA social scene. When upwardly mobile young stud Nikki (Ashton Kutcher) hits L.A with the intent to screw his way to a life of privilege at the peak of the rich cougar mountains. His plan couldn't be simpler and life would be easy. With no job, no home and no car, the callous Nikki with minimal effort exploits his good looks, quick wit, well rehearsed lines and ability to spot money from ten paces to lure in new and unsuspecting ladies. Nikki follows his playbook of perfected moves when he invites himself home with successful high-end lawyer Samantha (Anne Heche). Determined to make the most of Samantha's hospitality and continue to live large in the Hollywood Hills, Nikki shares his secrets and institutes his 26 point plan to self preservation. The theory: Each good boy favor he performs he receives a gold star point, once he reaches the magical 26 points the unsuspecting cougar trusts him and he can get away with anything. However, when the cats' away mice will play and as Samantha leaves the premises for a few days to New York, Nikki hosts extravagant parties in Samantha's expansive home, gorging himself bedding scores of young flesh. As clearly stated in the theory, he can get away with anything, and when Samantha returns early and walks in to find Nikki watching sport whist receiving sexual favors from a young female quarter-back he is soon exonerated and the empty relationship and athletic shagging continues seemingly swimmingly.Content with his keeper and his pieces on the side, Nikki is blind sighted when he meets and falls for a hard-to-impress waitress, Heather (Margarita Levieva). The tables turn when unbeknownst to Nikki, Heather is female equal also playing the game.As the truth of their life unravels, they find themselves sexually charged by a game of one-upmanship that has them dining at fine restaurants and crashing posh parties, until the truth of their lives forces them to choose between love and money.Inspired by classics like Shampoo, Breakfast at Tiffanys, and America Gigolo, Spread profiles a sexual grifter and his prey. Kutcher's Hollywood heartthrob status is has not been awarded by his acting but more by his looks and holding the record as the world most followed tweeter. Though still under the shadow of his perpetual comedies he is due minor praise for stretching his professional wings. There's something haunted in his portrayal delving into some surprisingly painful places and that's not just due to some of the gratuitous sexual positions.Los Angeles servers as character unto itself, highlighting Nikki's run through the gambit of Hollywood dreams and nightmares by providing expressive slick backdrops during the high times and seedy settings during the low. With a supporting cast comprised of attractive women and a screen play strengthened by its dark, comic undertones how could Director David Mackenzie's iconic look at the lure of sex, money, and ultimate karmic price for access to Hollywood's beautiful people fall short? The verdict: Ignore the third acts twist into sentimentality and leave this B-movie for rental. Unlike David Duchovny's Californication, who needs drugs, rock and roll, a valid storyline or decent script when you have Ashton Kutcher and nudity? Kent B (gb) wrote: Greatest worst super hero movie ever made. It's so funny and terrible in every aspect from dialogue to the whimsical soundtrack of females grunting. I've watched this movie so many times and it never gets old. Hopefully we get more of the same with the new Barbie film. The new Ghostbusters is nearly as good especially with the plot holes as well.

Alexander C (it) wrote: Would like to see sometime!

Vay F (nl) wrote: The best movie I have seen about the power of forgiveness and the futility of hate. Sacrificing self for others and true friendship are central themes.

Carlos M (gb) wrote: A silly and sterile animation that believes to be much smarter than it is (even the wordplays Oms and Terr are obvious), not to mention that it is visually and audibly dated (the music is awful) and constantly loses focus with too much unnecessary detailing about the wild life in Ygam.

Michael M (es) wrote: It really was the best of the Halloween movies

Bill B (es) wrote: I'm doing my best to fill in gaps on my classic film viewing, so I gave this one a spin from the TiVo awhile back. Fellini in color is a wonderfulk thing to behold and the story is fairly engaging, if a tad meander-y at times.I would definitely recommend checking this one out, though the story of a rich housewife coming to terms with her husband's philandering may not be all that compelling for everyone.Worth a look for cinephiles for sure.
