Sarfara A (nl) wrote: Gun Shy written and directed by Eric Blakeney. Starring Liam Neeson, Oliver Platt and Sandra Bullock. Charlie (Liam Neeson) is a veteran undercover DEA agent whose close encounter with death in his last sting operation has left him with a bad case of anxiety. He confesses this to a a psychiatrist who introduces him to a support group of other unhappy men. Fulvio (Oliver Platt) is a mob hit man who is full of anger. They all fall together with two Colombian drug dealers anxious to make some big money and improve their status in the cartel. Once again Liam Neeson done a movie that is poor and dull, lacks the zeal. A deteriorating story that is all a disaster!

They meet a woman at a restaurant who is recently divorced and hasn't recovered from her personal life. An evil emperor sends troops into town to collect taxes and the friends become split as one wants to raise the military ranks while the other wants to stay and work at the restaurant. As they grow apart, the best of friends quickly become bitter enemies."It's a rebellion. Not in my providence. You must all die."Woo-Ping Yuen, director of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Drunken Master, Iron Monkey, Wing Chun, Drunken Tai Chi, Magnificent Butcher, and Dance of the Drunken Mantis, delivers Tai Chi Master. The storyline for this picture is very well done and entertaining. There is a nice blend of action and comedy and the action is first rate. The cast includes Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, and Chin Siu-Ho."I didn't even know you wore underpants."I came across this on Netflix and had seen it a long time ago and was surprised it wasn't on my Rottentomatoes review list. Overall, this is a classic martial arts picture that is a must see for fans of Jet Li. This is one of his better pure martial arts pictures. I strongly recommend this film to fans of the genre."We all start off small."Grade: A
Alexandra W (nl) wrote: I can't figure out what that whole serial rapist thing was about. It feels as though the writers wanted to write a serial killer movie and then got bored and decided to go with insurance fraud instead. Or maybe the writers needed a way to introduce Bebe Neuwirth's character. And what was her accent about? Just for fun? Nobody else in the movie talked like that, least of all Nicole Kidman. Her American accent has improved over the years, though.Overall, kind of a weird movie that kept my attention but wasn't actually all that good. Except that Alec Baldwin is arrestingly handsome and that Nicole Kidman looks great in 90s attire. She should definitely go back to wearing her hair curly. Also, Gwyneth Paltrow is in this movie for about three seconds. That was a pleasant surprise. Not that I love Gwyneth Paltrow; she just rounded out the cast of everyone in the entire world who was in it.

Colin B (ca) wrote: Mario Bava is usually associated with colour-drenched lighting schemes, mostly with classic gothic horror movies or the giallo genre which he started. But even without studios or stylized lighting, Bava could make memorable pictures. Of what Bava pictures I've seen, Rabid Dogs has, without a doubt, the bleakest story of all. It's an understatement to say that Rabid Dogs is equal to films like The French Connection or The Godfather. However, the gangsters of Rabid Dogs are neither romantizied like the Corleones or slick like the French drug smugglers...they are as cruel and self-serving as any gangster can get. Even for a rough cut (never fully completed), this film doesn't let up and there's little telling what will happen next. Many have compared this to Wes Craven's Last House On The Left. While Craven's film is gritty and disturbing, Bava showed his expertise knew few bounds and makes it all the more lamentable that it wasn't completed as he wanted in his lifetime.
Jose Miguel G (de) wrote: Visually interesting and, at points, genuinely original in it's own concept, George Lucas's grand directional debut is quite unique and stylish, but it sort of loses it's main focus with dry characters and an oddly paced storyline that may distract mainstream audiences.
