(it) wrote: Never heard of this before, so there was an obvious assumption that it would be a load of rubbish, but not so........well not so if you don't mind some sickening gore that is. It reminded me of a low budget version of hostel given that the key focus point of the film seemed to be to crank up the torture methods, and death scenes. Where it differed was in the fact that this offered little by way of anything else, and especially in relation to any decent storyline or character background - just your everyday teenagers getting drunk, and lost in the woods. It was i'd say at the top end of the low budget horror's as it had all the essentials of a good old slasher movie, and is possibly even worthy of another watch sometime - even if it is just to see my mates cringe (especially the blokes, given the torture method in one of the scenes).

(de) wrote: Though it isn't hard to appreciate the love cinemagoers may have had for All This, And Heaven Too in the early 1940s, today the film's horrifically outdated stylings have not aged well. The performances, which would surely have been the film's biggest draw back in the day, find no middle ground, with players either being over-the-top and campy (O'Neil) or too reserved and bordering on monotone (Boyer and surprisingly Davis). This said the story does still hold some intrigue, especially considering its basis in fact, and any fans of the period will no doubt enjoy seeing Davis playing a rare and uncharacteristically soft character.

(ru) wrote: A mercurial sexpot travels the country making bad decisions with the wrong men and occasionally ruining someone else's life for little discernible reason.Jolene's voice over, which is the epitome of lazy storytelling, paints herself as a victim throughout the film's contrived events, but I found little pitiable about Jolene despite the almost charming naivete with which Jessica Chastain plays the part. In the end, I wonder what the point of Jolene's story is. Is the message about male cruelty or the ruining of an innocent? It's hard to make this case, especially after Jolene's lesbian jaunt.Overall, I found myself confused about why I should care about this character or what the filmmakers wanted to say about her.
