Thomas W (de) wrote: A bromantic sex comedy about graduating seniors and longtime best buds, Michael and Matty, who -- as two virgins! -- make a pact to help the other "score" before their senior prom. Michael (Nicholas Braun - Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Matty (Hunter Cope - April Apocalypse) have a mission ... until Matty secretly confides to his best friend that he is gay and their friendship is heavily tested through some ups and downs. As a film with a simple message of tolerance, it works adequately although it is heavily bogged down with stereotypes and predictable generalizations. Weak direction in general does not help the film as it can be watched but is mostly forgettable. Date and Switch's most noteworthy element is its co-star Dakota Johnson who stars in the upcoming 50 Shades of Gray. She does do a nice job here in her role with an understated performance as Matty's supportive confidante; but it doesn't really matter because the film is so forgettable..

Jeff S (mx) wrote: What drivel. Talk about ridiculous and cliched, everything about the plot of this film was just off. Things took a turn for the better with the "twist" half-way through, but ultimately it was short lived and things quickly rolled downhill again afterward. The ending was horrible, explained nothing, and random. Oh, and Samuel L. Jackson made me cry in this film. That's how horrible his high-pitched voice was.

Michael K (kr) wrote: Mike you have to rate the older films on a scale set to the day. The style and effort to make this film 43 years ago makes it worthy of at least 3 and a half out of 5 stars. What could be done today would be great but audiences probably wouldn't go. The kids want blood and gore and very few people over 35 even look at this genre any more. It is a pity growing up in Oshkosh I watched all of these films at the Grand on a Sunday afternoon, usually three or four at a time.

Bill B (mx) wrote: I was perhaps expecting more from this film than I should've, as I find myself dipping my toe into older, classic comedy from the '60s with stuff like Bob Hope and the like, but for whatever reason I wasn't very enthralled by Dean Martin and his shtick playing an exaggerated version of himself trapped in a small podunk town.Maybe this would grow on me with a re-watch.Rental?
