This film make you want to head out on the open road and get adventures...it really shows how powerful music truly can be...it also makes you want to pick up a guitar and make your own music...I think this is one of the best things David Carradine has ever done, it proves that he was a great talent...I like how for Woody it wasn't about money it was about the music and making a difference to the struggling people out there...giving them hope and a voice... I recommend this for anyone who loves a inspiring story and folk music...Liking Woody Would go a stray either...

Right smack dab in the middle of the movie is one of the most iconic car chases ever captured on film. It seems only logical that I open my review by talking about that car chase. It is brilliant! They use so many different methods of capturing footage, and splice it together expertly. One minute you're looking out a front window over the driver's shoulder, the next minute you have a birds-eye view of both cars barreling down the road, and then you almost feel like you're riding on the hood of the car because all you can see is the road flying by as you turn left and right. The editing required to make this 10-minute sequence work had to be extremely tedious. It was worth it, and if you never take the time to watch Bullitt, I'd recommend at least watching the car chase because it was ahead of its time. Also on the positive side is Steve McQueen. His performance is spot on as a tough cop who is struggling against all kinds of set-backs in order to do his job.The downfall of this movie is the disappointing story. They try to challenge viewers with some mysterious twists and turns, but I just don't think they made the movie interesting enough. For one thing I kept feeling like Bullitt was failing at his job, so I was having difficulty getting behind him as a protagonist. He was likable, but he needed to do things better. I prefer this type of protagonist to be one step ahead of everyone else, not playing catch-up the whole time. Also, the pace of the film is ridiculously slow. I was literally fighting to keep myself awake at times. But then it would pick back up whenever there was any kind of chase, and I'd be right back into the film. The story was kind of confusing, and the conclusion wasn't terribly satisfying. I think this is one of those movies that has a lot of disparate components that could be used to make a great film, but the writers and director didn't do a good job connecting them all together into one cohesive vision.
