James S (nl) wrote: 3.5 stars for this life pondering drama. Miles is single and middle aged with the shallow perks and deep unhappiness that brings. Pinot noir is a thin skinned grape, wine is always changing and alive, red and white are just about the skins. Happy ending as miles connects with mya, who for some reason is interested in him. His friendship with jack is another interesting theme. Movie discusses the 'male menopause'.

Derek B (de) wrote: Dark but touching story in which one of life's losers helps along another man with no chance of making it in the world, to make it in the world, but is then betrayed when he wants a favour in return... only to eventually receive a far greater favour. Quite talky, sometimes a bit too slow, and maybe it would benefit from some trimming, but the performances are excellent, Parker Posey in particular. I think I shall need to watch this again.

Don S (jp) wrote: Though it has huge plot holes, to the point I was distracted a bit by some of them, I still ended up liking this action movie. Liotta's not bad and Henriksen is his usual understated self. The costuming is pretty awful - the "Outsiders" looked like cast-offs from the Mad Max movies. Still the movie flowed well and came to a satisfying, if unoriginal, climax. Worth a viewing on a slow night.
