Francis M (it) wrote: A cocktail of random characters and scenes that just doesnt flow as Altman films usually does. At the same time, you wouldn't walk away from it, as the characters are interesting enough to follow.

Daniel D (ru) wrote: What brings this movie down is the terrible acting by Kline and Brannagh. Kline really sucks as the sidekick, he shows utter lack of character in the role; and Branagh might well be the blandest and most uninteresting villain I've ever seen. Salma Hayek is the only good thing in this movie (well that, and Will Smith's occasional wit). But yeah, at the end of the day, if you haven't seen this, trust me, you're not missing out on much.

David B (nl) wrote: Realistic and decently acted portrayal of homeless bums in the 1930s, but totally boring and melodramatic, not to mention implausible (i.e. the way Nicholson's character killed 3 people)

Justin B (mx) wrote: Along the lines of something like Cannibal holocaust, if you pull back the shroud of exploitive b-movie ultraviolence, there's actually some food for thought. Disturbing and engrossing.

Randy T (ca) wrote: A product of it's time, Across the Pacific was made more for the war effort than for it's cinematic merits. If the cast seems vaguely familiar it's because many of them, including director John Huston, worked together on The Maltese Falcon just the year before. This one is minor league compared to it's predecessor, but it's still replete with Mary Astor's charm and Humphrey Bogart's machismo and that alone makes it worth watching.

Kevin C (nl) wrote: Bela does some great work here. 3/4 through the movie some of the best hand acting in the genre. Who could the seriel killer be?

Philip G (kr) wrote: Capra directs, Stanwyk sizzles. Chinese Warlords, Amoral geopolitical banking, interracial relationships. For the 30's, barrier buster of a movie, despite the box office whimper. Worth checking out.
