Roxy C (de) wrote: Beautifully acted and shot. I don't think that the present day part of the story was necessary though. For those that read and loved the book, this will be a slight disappointment. While still being a beautiful film, all the most touching and memorable parts of the book are either skipped over or feel rushed. I would have preferred no modern day parallel and that the story stick to the book and give us a more in-depth account of snow flower and lily. Most of their relationship develops as they are being bound as children and there is like one scene of film that shows them as children then they are all grown up. The pop up appearance by Hugh Jackman was a surprise. I just really felt as though we missed so much of the beauty of the story.

Anita R (it) wrote: More of a drama and hard to fallow at times but there is a lot to look for in this movie. it's not a horror movie at all but there is a fun creepy feel to the movie. The main complaint that this movie has is that it doesn't make sense but, a lot of people I know didn't realize that the story isn't in order.

Dan A (ca) wrote: For a comedy there aren't many laughs. Kevin Kline is good as always but I just found the whole thing too family friendly and safe. The idea that "common" people could do a better job in politics than politicians because, apparently, they are immune to the lures of power and corruption, is an annoying fantasy that gets shoved in your face with this film.
Aldo M (ru) wrote: This movie is not just empty - the first story in Los Angeles does not deliver anything at all - or stupid: the episode from Helsinki, supposed to be a tear jerker, is so false and stupid to turn to comic. It is also, in the episode from Rome, offensive well beyond the limit of racism. In this horrible movie Jim jarmusch portrays Italy as an economically underdevolped country, a place where taxi drivers drive the wrong way and smoke in their own taxi (Italy has been the first country in Europe to introduce restrictions to smoking in public places: ant the law is applied and respected), and the Italian people, according to the racist Jarmusch, are permanently aroused, to the point that, when they do not have sex on the public street, they have sex with pumpkins and animals. A collection of the worst anti-italian prejudices. I strongly suggest to any Italian, and to any person that loves Italy, to boycott Jim Jarmusch forever. A horrible movie, when not empty and/or stupid, full of prejudices and prone to the most hideous racism.
