Campbell P (fr) wrote: If there were such a thing as an impossibly hard review, it'd be for a movie like Samurai Cop. This is an independently made buddy comedy that basically is an even goofier version of Lethal Weapon. What makes this movie fall so flat is that it lacks cohesiveness. There's way too many scenes that cut about 1/4 too quickly and it's VERY distracting. Not only does it take attention away from what the main focus should be, half the time it's cutting away to some horribly lit sex scene. Honestly there's like 5 sex scenes you can cut out of this film and it probably still wouldn't make much sense. It'll be the middle of an action scene and then out of nowhere you'll see a woman undressing leaving you to figure out things for yourself. The transitioning and overall editing is just completely awful. Your film can have some poor transitioning and still be a good movie but in this case it's just a massive distraction to an already big mess. The way that it's shot looks like someone is trying to shoot a movie in a sack or rice. It looks filmy and grainy as if it were made in the early 60's. The acting in the film is laughable. I don't remember any of the names of the characters or any of the actors names because I didn't bother trying to look them up after the movie. Why? Because I couldn't care less about their performances. Everyone looked like a playboy/Calvin Klein model and had the smarts of them too. The action isn't even good, nothing looked real or even worth its minuscule budget. In fact it's pretty hilarious, if someone were to get shot someone obviously jumps to look like they did and had no expression whatsoever. You can't really call a movie Samurai Cop if you don't see him with a samurai sword until the last 10 minutes and only for two minutes does he actually use it. I didn't feel any suspense, care, or fun while watching this film. Samurai Cop was laughably bad. The acting, direction, editing, writing, dialogue.... All awful. This movie is hilarious in a sense when you don't take it seriously. But then again why would you take a movie called Samurai Cop seriously? F
