Nina S (gb) wrote: Nothing more than a glitzy film bank-rolled by a self-admitted pedophile trying to normalize his sexual "preference." Disgusting in the most revolting film I've seen to date. Couched of course, with blaming society for over reacting and alienating children from men. That somehow we are all biologically programmed different and should accept his argument that his is just some neurological and biological abnormality. Sick. Just sick. And his comparison that some how the fashion industry gets away with it, well, that is just a diversion from the meaning of this "award-winning" film.
Ryan L (nl) wrote: Not sure what all the fuss on this movie is about, especially the audience award at Sydney. For me, this was a very ordinary and rather dry film that had me quite bored for the majority of it. The story was quite predictable from the get-go and it took a good half of the film before the main storyline even kicked in. Pretty standard fare that I wouldn't even think twice about passing over if I had another chance to watch it.

Daniel m (kr) wrote: Dolph "i must brake you" Lundgren takes off his gloves and turns on his soviet masters in this barrel end of the 80's action flick produced by "Casino" Jack Abramoff and directed by the Robert Aldrich of the 80's B scene Joseph Zito. Positive: dazzingly unashameful reaganomics, effective use of "hero's journey" narrative template, great climax, confident genre direction, Little Richard, Savini SFX Negative: cliche and unoriginal, unexplosive by today's action standards Verdict: By all rights should be seen as a low-key parody rather then a lacking entry of the 80's action era. Not the best action film from that time, but the action film that is most of that time, therefore an intriguing time-caspule rather then a dull rellic. Status: Cult

Liy D (au) wrote: So I expected this movie to be a lot worse than it actually was. I mean it wasn't good, but it wasn't the worst movie in the history of the world either. It was well acted, but not griping. I was not enthralled in the story line nor did I care about any of them by the end of the movie.

Ariel H (nl) wrote: What could be worse than a movie about literally any sports team overcoming obvious obstacles? A movie with virtually the same plot except the generic sports team was replaced with a "boy" who looks like a 45 year old man with a 401K and a dolphin. I have a deep hatred for those types of movies so it's no surprise I cringed, sighed and had to continuously stop myself from placing a noose around my neck. I'd rather have my period for an entire year or only watch Twilight for the rest of my life than ever see this movie again. Honestly out of ever crazy amazing true story thing that has happened in real life they make a movie out of this. And while I have a big amount of love and respect for dolphins I would not rather see it made into a movie. Thus is one of those stories that would have made a way better documentary (if it had been done right the first time!) One star for how awesome dolphins are.

Ethan P (mx) wrote: Despite being over three hours long, Magnolia was over in what seemed like no time at all. It was equally funny and dark and sad and frantic, as many "mosaic" films try to be. But none have pulled it off in the same way PT Anderson was able to here. I liked every main character-- Actually, I didn't like all of them, but I understood everyone's thoughts and motives enough to not get frustrated when one did something that upset another. And all of the performances were top notch. I find with most PT Anderson movies I end up mostly watching for the portrayal of the main character. Not to say I don't like the stories in them, I've just really enjoyed the characters a lot (especially Barry, in Punch-Drunk Love). They're always mesmerizing. But since there were so many main characters here, I was watching for all of them, as well as the story, and I just watched even more attentively when my favorite characters were on screen. Magnolia is a movie with a premise that I think only PT Anderson is capable of perfecting. It seems to be polarizing for new fans of the director, but at the same time I think it's his best work.
