(gb) wrote: It's a well done film, which is based on the true story about the kidnapping of monks. What we get here is 8 French Christian monks who live in the mountains of North Africa, alongside their Muslim brothers, in peace. One day, trouble seems to come along when several Croatian workers are assassinated by a group of Muslim extremists. Then it's up to the monks to decide whether they should leave in peace, or decide to stay along the mountains.Amazing film that can be slow moving a lot of the time, but don't let that get the better of you, as you'll appreciate the characters and the lovely backgrounds of the film.
(gb) wrote: The movie has a rather interesting premise but doesn't go anywhere other than depiciting the harsh cruelty of the situations the film's just basically a downer, So i say SKIP IT!!!!

(it) wrote: I put off watching this for ages because I just assumed it was another Jennifer Aniston (exchange the guy, get same movie) Rom Com. I also can't keep any of her movies straight because they are so similar so I wasn't sure if I'd seen it or not. Anyways this was very good due to the ensemble cast. An Interesting and well acted character study about 3 different 40ish couples struggling through midlife despite their wealth. JA plays the single loser friend. Loved Joan Cusack and also Frances Mcdormand's storyline. Interesting to see Jennifer as a pot smoking, slacker with no self confidence however she was still just another reboot of Rachael Green. 01/13 (2)

(mx) wrote: This has got to be the silliest, funniest low-budget romp I've seen in a good while. The performances, of course, vary in quality, and the situations are mostly absurd. The chase scene up the flight of stairs has to be one of the funniest I've seen.
(us) wrote: You gotta love some good psychotronic drive- in schlock from the master himself, Roger Corman. This movie actually had some surprising elements too it that I found interesting in the context. While the film is basically a mutated creature feature, it also incorporates some creepy ghost element material that you wouldn't normally think of. There's also some gore, like heads and hands being cut off. You can just about guess how much money went into most of the elements of this film (ie zero), with the most expensive elements being the crabs themselves, which are hilariously bad puppets with cartoon eyes. These midnight drive in flicks are fun to watch anyway, but Corman did an excellent job of adding elements that were missing from other by-the-numbers films. If you're looking for a good hour long example of what the lower tier of these films was like (below movies like "Them!") then this would be a good place to start.
