Tim S (de) wrote: Now I'm sure that people who've actually seen this and are reading this are thinking "geez, how can he possibly give this film three and a half stars?" Well, the devil's in the details. Killer Fish certainly isn't a masterpiece, but it's got too much good going for it that even the really cheesy and bad stuff just make it all the more charming. It's actually fascinating in a weird way. It's an American production using an Italian crew with mostly American TV actors, as well as being filmed entirely in Brazil. I can't make that up. It's basically Joe Dante's Piranha with a jewel heist subplot shoved into it, but how can you dislike watching a giant fat man get eaten by piranha from the inside out? The film is tough to track down nowadays. As a matter of fact, the only way to see it is either through bootlegs or importing the Italian DVD version, which is entirely in English. I highly recommend this great piece of schlock for those looking for something above average in this particular field. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you do. It's got Lee Majors after all, and many recognizable supporting actors. I could have done without Karen Black, but that's another story.
Jim J (br) wrote: The 90% rating for this film will only make sense to one who appreciates the female hour glass figure, especially the kind of figure that a Jayne Mansfield or a Sophia Loren sported in mid 20th century America. Beginning with World War II GI's who favored pictures of glamorous female stars looking very buxom under their tight sweaters, a trend was established for producer Russ Meyer who delivered the goods in this 1966 ode to over sized female anatomy, MONDO TOPLESS. Meyer simply allows the ladies, mostly California strippers and go-go dancing girls, to do their thing. The music is loud, the dancing is both erotic and passionate but will only appeal to those who appreciate the D and E cup bra on a slim frame. Such is the case in this movie with all of the girls, but especially with one, standing out from the crowded field. Buxotic Darlene Grey was "discovered" by Meyer for this movie and is not soon to be forgotten via her go-go gyrations in the California desert. Topless, unstoppable and untoppable among other Meyerism descriptions, she will either stop your heartbeat or bore you to death. If it's the former, this 61 minute film, an exercise in serious breast fixation, easily rates a 90% on the tomatometer as one of the all time greats!
