Angelique and the Sultan

Angelique and the Sultan

This film finds Angélique in a North African Muslim kingdom where she is now part of the Sultan's harem. The first part of the film consist of her angrily refusing to be bedded as well as their trying to literally beat some sense into her. It all seems to go on too long and I was surprised that the Sultan simply didn't have her killed. Late in the film, she finally decides to escape with the help of two Christian prisoners.

In the fifth and final of the Angélique series, the beautiful heroine is sold into a sultan's harem. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

The Critic (de) wrote: Despite relying heavily on stereotypes and clichs, this still manages to be a rather charming sports flick. A compassionate and humourous screenplay by Benedikt Golhardt keeps the proceedings relevant, with its leads in top form.

Bernadette C (ru) wrote: I absolutely adore Takashi Miike, and while I never thought anything could rival "The Happiness of the Katakuris" in my mind, this one came close. It was typical Miike craziness, but a bit more action-packed. It puts the viewer in a fantasy world filled with all sorts of mythological creatures, and teaches that the world can be saved by beans. I highly recommend this film.

Matt C (br) wrote: This is a tough film to watch after viewing Andrew Dominik's masterpiece, The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford. And while it essentially laughs in the face of historical accuracy... Samuel Fuller's debut is a compelling one, spearheaded by a terrific performance from John Ireland.

Matthew H (kr) wrote: Married to the Mob is a campy, outrageously fun tale that is a mix between "Midnight Run" and "Goodfellas" on how it portrays the Mafia. Instead of focusing on shootout after shootout, the movie resorts more to story and character development, which is a rarity in this genre.

Thomas B (de) wrote: ****It's not quite as good as its sequel, but this reboot/prequel to Planet of the Apes boasts just as good CGI, and better human characters.
