Stella Stevens is a hoot, she and the rest of the cast seem to have a good time making it. The plot is ridiculous, the special effects are poor but it is all done in such a fun, good natured way, it has some entertainment value.

Marina N (es) wrote: An interesting story combined with superb French actors Reno and Cassel inevitably produces something worth watching. The atmosphere and feel are certainly captivating with relatable characters and occasional shocks. It probably could habe been more than that but, as it is, it's still entertaining.
Jack G (nl) wrote: Jesus Franco isn't a very good filmmaker, but somehow this wasn't too terrible. Listen for some awesome VERY dated 70s music (some appropriately mixed into Jackie Brown), and for both really sexy scenes and horrible vampire bits. It's more of a psychedelic soft-core than a horror flick, and for those looking for a faithful Stoker adaptation might as well chuck the DVD in the air and use it for skeet shooting. If you're curious, watch it once. If not, don't even bother.
Bradley J (nl) wrote: McFarland USA undeniably means well. It's sweet and charming, but like most inspirational sports movies, there is not a single surprise or unpredictable story beat in this film. It is very much an underdogs rising up to victory tale. The script also falls flat with the scenes involving Costner's wife, feeling awkward and labored. McFarland USA will choke up undemanding viewers, but there isn't enough in it to be remembered as a great sports film. Rating: 59

Katherine S (fr) wrote: I was enjoying it but then the in last 20 minutes the movie took a dramatic turn from a movie about a man's desire to catch the perfect wave, into a direct and unashamed attempt at converting viewers to religion. At that point I almost turned it off !
