There they meet neighbors D'Arcy and Miner who they invite to dinner. Unable to deal with their guests odd behavior, Blair and Close kick them out, only for them to return with guns and invade the couple's home. D'Arcy played the role of Anthony Hopkins in the recent 'Hitchcock' biopic and his resemblance to the 'Psycho' star adds an extra element of creepiness to his role here. Sadly, he's really the only standout in an otherwise dull and cliched affair. The dinner scene is quite tense but the movie's second half does nothing new with its home invasion plot. The film is shot in ugly grey tones which are no doubt intended to reflect its somber mood but it makes for grim viewing in all the wrong ways.

It is unnerving for sure, but ultimately the film is too artistically done to retain the full shock value it would likely have if it were more grainy. Which is not to say that its exquisite camerawork and production design detracts from it; just from this one aspect of it. The vomiting during sex is gross but ultimately just made me think of 'Sweet Movie', and when there is actual gore rather than implied gore on screen, it is captured in such a way that it almost seems symbolic rather than visceral. How often do you come across a film that is TOO well done? This film is well worth a watch for those seeking out things to shock them out of their desensitized stupor and it will likely stick with you for a while.
(de) wrote: So the Sleepaway Camp series continues with the third installment: Teenage Wasteland. Angela's back in camp under an assumed identity to mutilate more terrible teenagers. I love that this series has "camp" in the title because that's exactly what it is. Angela is just as bad as Freddy making bad puns after each kill. I haven't really cared for the series so far, but this is marginally more enjoyable than the rest. It's still campy as hell with weak death scenes but probably funnier than the first two.

Some impressively gruesome scenes, the likes of which I hadn't seen outside of a Fulci movie. I'd say it's about on par with The New York Ripper in that area. Fantastic soundtrack by Goblin.

(it) wrote: This film was panned by critics, scoring only 7% on rotten Tomatoes, but I didn't mind it that much. Not a great story, but I was in the right mood for it and I like both Wilson and Galifiankis, so enjoyed it enough. I can't recommend it, but would say if you like the actors, try it and decide for yourself.
(ru) wrote: Rotten tomatoes review on this film shows even more bias on their part towards action films, the cinematography was a little too much at parts, but the story line was great and it was executed well. Had a great soundtrack
