Joe S (ag) wrote: For all the bad things I'd heard about this movie (It's 2 hours and 40 minutes, it lounges around too much, it has dry spots), I watched it and found it to be....... just about perfect. Now people who have never watched the series or didn't care for the series aren't going to get a lot out of it (And it'll be hard to get into because all the standard DVDs are in chronological order instead of broadcast order and I can't tell you how VITAL the original broadcast order is). If you like the characters, this movie is a delight. It has a fun, loopy story in the vein of Back to the Future 2/It's a Wonderful Life and the it stays on point most of the time. It could be argued there's TOO much story as there's maybe one too many wooden sabo flung into the plot, but it's endearing, entertaining, sweet, and at the center of it all, a vulnerable humanity in the last place you'd look. And like KyoAni's other work The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, I think future viewings will be more rewarding rather than less. Plus, with DVD/Blu-Ray, you can have your own intermission if you'd like.

It hires a private mercenary force "REHAB" to evict the last of the low income residents who rebel with the privatized cops all quitting to help defend the last of affordable housing called "Cadilac" village.

Bill H (es) wrote: So bad it's good. A cheesy cult movie full of some bad acting, crazy script, good looking girls, and sub-par music that I still find enjoyable despite a voice-over ending that makes no sense (only added so the movie could be released). Odd that this was written by critic Roger Ebert. Crazy ass movie, bad movie, BUT... I luffs it all sick. ^_^
