Kevin D (jp) wrote: There are few, if any, redeeming qualities in this movie, from horror director Eric England. On a positive note, if you are a Cinema Studies student or film critic, this is and excellent film to watch to show you exactly now NOT to make a movie. Personally, I love and completely understand the draw people get when they see a new gore fest (personally, I still love the original SAW), but this movie is an abomination of anything in the same genre. I wasn't even going to write a review of this film, but I do so as a warning to the viewer. The acting, and in particular lead actress Najarra Townsend, is so bad that one has to laugh at the outright stupidity of their actions. The dialogue is completely unrealistic to any conversation I've had in real life, and the motivations behind every action on screen is the complete OPPOSITE of what one would do in this situation. It would have made a far more interesting film if we had seen her receive some sort of medical treatment within the 3 day time frame of this film. The direction of this film is one bad scene after another after another and it continues for the entire 1hr 23min run time.I know some of you might be thinking, 'Oh, but I love B cinema,' but trust me when I say I do too. This is more like D to F grade cinema. What is even more shocking is that they even made a sequel. I did note how similar in plot the movie Starry Eyes (2014) was to this movie, which despite that movie's flaws, is still a much better film by FAR! Save yourself an hour of your life, don't watch this.1/5

Alisha B (de) wrote: Game of Death is not the Juiciest Tomato their is but it is not rotten, i found it quite interesting, i saw it as Judge Dredd (Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby) but in a hospital, kind of. Their were weird times in the film that were not explained. But i honestly believe that this film is under-rated and should be seen by more people. So i give this film 3 out of 5 and Its not quite rotten, anything different to make this film worse would make it rotten.

Reece L (br) wrote: Thrilling from start to finish, "Sexy Beast" showcases all of the visual magic and tricky camerawork Glazer has honed in later works and features an exceptional, Oscar-worthy performance from Ben Kingsley.

Jonathan G (jp) wrote: You watch this for one reason, and one reason only: Brian Dennehy's performance as Gacy, which is breathtakingly disturbing.

Jim H (nl) wrote: A scientist writes about book about his sexual exploits. As I watched this film, I wondered if it was supposed to be satirical comedy or if there was something I wasn't understanding, that it was saying something complex about sexual politics. Even as the film drew to its conclusion, I couldn't figure out if Francois Truffaut was taking me for a ride that ended nowhere or if I simply wasn't smart enough to be in on the joke. I feel the same way now. What is certain is that this is a lesser Truffaut film, not up to Antoine Doinel par, but nevertheless the images are sharp, the plot unfolds with ease, and the acting is quite good; Charles Denner is uninhibited and occasionally charming.I wish the film would have more fully explored his few attempts at love over lust, but considering I don't really know what Truffaut was shooting at, I don't even know if this a fair criticism.Overall, I suppose this should be on one's checklist of Truffaut films to see, but there are so many better ones.

Tsubaki S (fr) wrote: The type of movie i wish Tsui Hark made more often, the film does live to the reputation it has gather. Unlike other films of the genre that have come out from HK this is a dark one, a dog-eats-dog world is portrayed in the film instead of the typical colorful Zhang Yimouesque wuxia land. A cruel world where only the most fit survives and where the characters live in a constant ambigous moral area. It took the original premise of the Shaw Bros classic and gave it a much deserved expansion. While a bit rough in the editing and camera, the film is not that hard to follow. This truly deserves a decent DVD release one of these days.

Lindsay R (au) wrote: Since I am a sucker for anything with gothic undertones, I am not afraid to say that this is one of my favorite movies of all time. Joan Crawford, while a wonderful actress, is unfortunately overshined by Bette Davis, who brings an absolutely chilling performance to the table in a bright silver platter. Wink wink.

Steve Y (ca) wrote: One of the finest pre-code musicals, "Love Me Tonight" is not only a charming and memorable musical comedy; it is also masterfully shot and as funny as any modern Hollywood Romance. Warning: you may not be able to get the first song out of your head!
