At Land

A woman lies on the sand, left there by the tides and waves (and in a pose that would be copied in From Here to Eternity). She reaches up across tree roots and makes a difficult climb. Only to discover herself climbing horizontally along a long dinner table as bourgeoise black-tie guests chat and drink and smoke, oblivious to her. At the top of the table, a man is playing chess but abandons the game. Fascinated, she gazes at board, the pieces moving unaided. The woman chases a pawn as it falls to the floor. Falls down a waterfall. Is lost.

Scott M (au) wrote: Marking my 100th rating, and in celebration of the Star Trek Beyond DVD release, Star Trek Into Darkness is another exceptional entry to the franchise, with a reimagined look into a phenomenal villain portrayed beautifully by Cumberbatch. Looking forward to the fourth entry of this franchise, whenever it comes out.

Atlas o (mx) wrote: Sets itself apart from others in the crime thriller genre by concentrating on pathos instead of procedurals or criminal pathology. The film experiments with sound, not as a stylized gimmick, instead it's used to give us a sense of realism and connection, which is the theme of the film.

Corey T (mx) wrote: This should have been much lower budget and with no name actors to be this bad.

Alex r (ca) wrote: Sequel to Mimic is a decent affair that just hints at the effective shocks and thrills of the original without trying to do anything new. The cast here are forgettable and there are no standout performances. I didn't think the sequel was bad, just it needed some work to make it a much better movie. That is to be expected from a follow-up, especially one directed by Guillermo del Toro. The original wasn't anything great and is not a classic by any means, but it was definitely entertaining in terms of monster carnage and effects work. Here we have the carnage and effects, but it's predictable and we know what's going to happen. This movie is decent, but forgettable. The original is the one to watch and if you decide to see this movie, don't expect anything great. Mimic 2 could have used a lot more in terms of a better script and storytelling, and you can clearly see this sequel's flaws. I simply felt like a sequel wasn't necessary. Del Toro's movie was a terrific monster film, even if it's not a classic. This was purely made to cash in on the success of the original, and you can clearly see it on-screen. I didn't hate the film; I simply felt it needed more substance. Mimic 2 feels rushed with no care of trying to create something that can match the original. I think it's a great shame because they really could have made something quite good and memorable. Mimic 2 is worth seeing if you have nothing else better to watch and if you're a die-hard fan of the original. Go into this one expecting something decent, but be prepared to see that the film needed more depth to really make this one a unique monster movie like the original.

Tara G (jp) wrote: I have just finished watching this movie; I have never heard of it before or most of the actors/actresses such as Ethel Waters. Everyone's acting is fantastic! The storyline is entertaining; it has comedy, drama, and life decision issues. I don't really care for musicals but this one was very good. I like how this musical has a story to tell first then it has songs to enhance it. I really like dancing so when I had seen the actors/actresses dancing, it was fun to see. Besides that, I feel the plot isn't just about having religion, I believe it deals with making life decisions that you feel is right for yourself. And to live your life in a positive way, behaving in the best way you can. Overall, I really enjoy this movie; I may possibly buy it. Also I would recommend this movie to all ages. My favorite song in the movie is the one Ethel Waters sings about love.
