Bryan M (gb) wrote: This movie was far better than it had any right to be. I found myself to be not only entertained, but also caring about the albeit shallow romance and the rest of the cast in general. Definitely a movie I would buy on the 5 dollar rack at Wal-Mart if I ever saw it.

Eric H (br) wrote: This is an unexpected treat, a low budget B movie that is actually good. It is funny and enjoyable from beginning to end. The acting is smart, the writing clever, the direction crisp. This is a small-scale winner. Don't let the title scare you away.

Ukjin J (gb) wrote: Cold but very touching story made me trembling watching movie.

Lukas Z (it) wrote: Watched this instead of going dog-sledding because my school sucks. Many reasons to hate it. Thankfully the cinematography is nice enough

John B (nl) wrote: Not a horrible film--Christopher Walken is quite good--but not a very good adaptation of the book.

Kevin R (br) wrote: The dummy's right!Shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the military forces build up their defenses along the California coastline; specifically, around the Hollywood area. It quickly becomes apparent that the effort is a waste of time and resources and the recommended colonel is about to get his butt chewed up when who should appear, the Japanese in a submarine. Can the military and their band of misfits defend the Hollywood coastline?"The little bastard aint got shit out of me but my name, rank, and social security number..."Steven Spielberg, director of Jaws, Duel, ET, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Color Purple, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Saving Private Ryan, and Catch Me if you Can, delivers 1941. The storyline for this picture was just okay and reminded me of an Animal House knock-off. The comedic content was fairly mediocre, the script was just okay, but the cast was well put together and did okay. The cast includes John Belushi, Ned Beatty, Dan Aykroyd, Toshiro Mifune, Treat Williams, and Christopher Lee. "You got something to be dancing about?"I came across this on Netflix and was surprised I had never heard or seen it. The cast is awesome and it was fun to watch these characters, but the film was fairly dated and a huge step down from Animal House (similar comedic content). Overall, this is worth watching once, as there are some classic characters/actors in this film, but this has definitely not aged well."Invasion!"Grade: C

Ieda M (kr) wrote: Not my favorite Kurosawa movie, but a great performance from Setsuko Hara. It is quite obvious that she is Satoshi Kon's Millennium Actress.

Cydnee B (kr) wrote: A stand-out movie for people like me. Steve Buscemi is underrated and even his appearance in Grown Ups 2 can't change that. This movie was one of the only ones where I actually read the book that it was based on before I saw the movie. In many ways, it surpassed the book. This movie has funny, quotable lines, a decent cast and a lot of moments we can all relate to. Closed-minded art teachers, moody best friends, and shitty customers. HA!

Tara C (nl) wrote: We can forgive Robert Carlyle for '28 Weeks Later' thanks to this wrenching 'love in a time of war' movie set in both Glasgow and Nicaragua. Wouldn't have seen it had it not been on telly, thanks Film 4!
