They get props for trying to make a film and especially for not over reaching with their gore but a word of advice, pee is not usually brown. If I haven't seen better low budget films I would probably be more lenient with Carver. However too many other films have a small budget and come out better then this one. You feel like you're watching someone's home videos, and not in a Cloverfield, Blare Witch, Cannibal Holocaust sort of way. Carver has more of a I'm watching Little Junior blow out his candles quality to it then a serious attempt at making a film. I wish the makers and actors good luck, and I would give them a try again in the future if they'll just bother to polish the final product more.

Luke B (au) wrote: A fascinating watch as we see one man use film making as a kind of therapy. This has probably been done before, but never so openly. Zahedi is an honest and endearing man. His naivety translates well into both comedy and genuine emotion. The constant breaking of the forth wall and laying out facts about the film's production, as well as his story, make this sometimes jumbled, but always enjoyable. I got a real feel for Zahedi, but this film doesn't wallow in self pity or excuse his actions. It's low budget helps Zahedi create some wonderful little quirks.

Barry S (ca) wrote: I just finished watching "Crazy in Alabama" and can say it was one of the better movies I've seen recently. It was made in 1999 and after having looked through the reviews for this older movie, I can honestly say that many movie critics couldn't spot an excellent movie if it was spelled out for them. Thus the confusion in their reviews. The negative critics of this film just don't get it. This flick is not incoherent. It is not whatever their criticism of it says. It is a skillfully woven story of Melanie Griffith's character Lucille with that of Peejoe her nephew set against the background of the civil rights movement of the sixties. The acting was right on. The pacing was excellent. "Freedom is eternal," the ending line said it all. Critics should focus more on the overall entertainment value of a movie. This one is a gem.
Tio B (au) wrote: Not half bad. (If it was, it would get two and a half stars because half of five is two and a half.) As a Bernard Malamud adaptation, it isn't any worse than THE NATURAL.
Brett E (it) wrote: Not as bad as everyone has said. Seeing the leads' relationship play out was interesting and the movie's tone was consistent & light throughout. Not as good as There's Something About Mary, but definitely a good comedy to rent one rainy night.
