Ayaal is a story on intense human relations. It’s a story of a man who effortlessly floated along the estuaries of time, the back waters of Vembanad. If love is the flowering of one’s own heart, can it have a direction? Is it Scalar (direction less). This is an uncomfortable question raised by him, the protagonist, Guru Dasan. The film problemetises the conventional fabric of human relations, its rules and its sanctity.

The long takes create a special atmosphere with the characters emotions floating throughout the scene in a very subtle way. The ending sequence is very powerful and depressing. Hence, it's not a conclusion to the story, but it's a conclusion to everyone's life - Death.

Very typical of Stephen Sommers to take some of the most iconic horror movie monsters, and turn them into childish, theme park type versions of circus de sole. Even for Dracula's brides, not only were their performances over the top, but they were also pretty hot. Not saying much though. They almost make you spray your pants at the sight of them!As for Kate Beckinsale, MAD Magazine pretty much summed up her character in one page! A werewolf drooling at the sight of her! Another problem which I have with her, is being extremely acrobatic, and not breaking a single freakin bone in her body since she was tossed and knocked around in all the action scenes! And the only thing which defeated her, is a nice bed chair! C'MON, REALLY!!? Shows to prove that this film is nothing but a live action cartoon! After all is said and done, still, you can have fun if you don't take it too seriously.
