(us) wrote: Three whales are trapped in the ice as a small Alaskan town rallies to their rescue in this by-the-numbers inspirational animal tale. A couple of good laughs and a great lead performance from John Krasinski help "Big Miracle" do the inspirational-family-film genre justice, but Drew Barrymore is as annoying as ever (and the relationship between the two characters feels forced and flat). Why this family film had to dedicate such a large portion of it's story to debating certain American political policies is beyond me, but the film can still be enjoyed for its nostalgia and (brainless) family fun. Fortunately, the feel-good atmosphere of "Big Miracle" doesn't get too cheesy since it has a good dose of light-hearted humor, but the temporary fun of "Big Miracle" will probably be forgotten the minute one walks out of the theater. 7/10

(nl) wrote: A slow-burn that by the end, has you completely enraptured - it's unfortunate that this film doesn't seem to be seen as more than a love story, there's really a lot going on here. The way the film gets past arranged marriage and works its way into love is simplistic but beautiful, and the low-class love story is also incredibly charming, but perhaps most importantly, this film may have cast the mold for the "Family Secret Revealed In Stress Of Wedding Movie." The subplot with the eldest cousin and the uncle might be the strongest aspect of the film, and it adds a crushing reality to the supposed beauty of a wedding. If you liked Rachel Getting Married or Margot at the Wedding, look back to this film: it broke the ground, and more than that, it will take you away to India for an hour or two. Good for a lot of reasons.

Daniel stern the most underrated film star of the 90's packs some big laughs in this widely hated movie, most people who hated it felt there should of been more child nudity. I for one think thats absolutely disgusting, 2 thumbs up!
(ca) wrote: An excellent movie, although I guess it doesn't really have much to offer for repeated viewings. It's a shame that Spalding Gray is no longer around to do more like this.
(it) wrote: Great music by a former skateboarder. Check this man out. Just do a search for Ray Barbee. But besides that, I got 3 movie reviews. 1 classic that kick started the careers of 2 guys and a current flick with former montages as well as a surf flick. The first film, Swingers was great. It was incredibly funny and the complete turnaround the way the movie revolved until the end was absolutely great. Mostly what makes the film is the dialogue, kind of like a Kevin Smith film with out all the nerd references. Coffee and Cigarettes is a flick composed of sequences between different actors, filmed over 20 years by Jim Jarmusch. Some scenes are incredibly dull with no real point other than an attempt at comedy which fail, others feel so free that they become hilarious like the Bill Murray Wu-Tang clan sequence. And others are very reminiscent of a Seinfeld episode like the conversation between Steve Coogan and Alfred Molina. Worth the watching but it's a little over shot. You can only watch so many sequences of people lingering over coffee and holding cigarettes while nothing happens. The last flick was a Surf Movie called Second THoughs. It was a very beatuiful film however there was no real cohesiveness about the film which is what made it so hard to watch. IT was like a musical surf video. Just music and surfing and brief moments of throwaway narration. This could have been so much more but what the fuck does Timmy Turner care, he went surfing for a month, filmed it, made a movie, and made some money in the process.

(it) wrote: 2 stars for the action scenes in this movie. They were really great to see and a treat for anyone who likes to see a action movie. But as a fan of the game franchise, I wasn't expecting a generic action movie. Fans of the game want to see a thriller movie. The main goal of the game is to make every assassination look like an accident or be silent and deathly. This movie was just gun blazing action with a predictable plot. The beginning was promising but pretty soon it was obvious this wasn't the direction of the movie.Awful dialogue, a forced love interest and no understanding of the game character, made it feel like a generic action movie. Slapping the title 'Hitman' on the cover, doesn't make the movie special. If you enjoy a popcorn action movie, this is a decent movie. If you're expecting an adaptation of the game character, skip this one.
