(kr) wrote: Hopefully people won't blow this movie off on the assumption that it's just about porn, because it's so much more than that. Contrary to many other reviews, I thought Amanda Seyfried did a great job in the role, and the rest of the cast is solid as well. It's not an easy film to watch, but it is definitely a well-made one.

(jp) wrote: This documentary followed the lives of Islamic gay and lesbian couples and friends, and the controversy behind the homosexual community in Islam. As the movie progressed it became increasingly apparent how important their faith was to each of these people, and how hard it was for each and every one of them to deal with the discrimination that came along with being who they were. In a society where coming out, let alone being gay, was so harshly judged, it becomes hard to choose between one??s faith and their identity. This documentary really showed the suffering and pain that many people had to go through. In many cases, such as the Sufi couple living in Turkey, the two lovers are happy, as their society and government does not stand against homosexuals. However in other cases, gays are often caught, put on trial, and jailed in their countries. Many times men and women seek help from Muslim scholars, who only tell them the same thing unanimously: that if you plead God??s forgiveness, one can be ??cured,?? and that homosexuality is wrong and against Islam in every way. All in all, the documentary showed a great insight into the gay community of Islam. I think the most important thing I took away form this was the people??s devotion. It may seem like something minor, but a strict and anti-homo religion can wear a person down, in the same way someone discriminating against another based on their skin colour could. These people, these men and women who strive through this deep hatred for their sexuality, hold a dedication to their religion, something that they could change in a heartbeat, but they don??t. I feel as if this provides something not short of beautiful in an incorrigible issue.

I always have high hopes for Thrillers, that they will rival the likes of ?Seven? etc.; however this is another B Grade movie, although I do remember Kristy Swanson from the movie version of Buffy, which thankfully started a 7 season series! (kr) wrote: I really did enjoy this film. It was different. It was a little bit on the campy side but, a little scary at times. I love Lauren Ambrose "Claire" from six feet under. I believe this movie is the reason why she was cast in the first place. Check it out if you have an open mind.
(au) wrote: It's a great story turned into a bad film. Annie Galipeau's acting was just wrong. Brosnan was really a bad choice for this.

(ru) wrote: One of the most dull and bland as hell movie experiences I have ever been through. There was absolutely nothing good at all about this piece of crap movie. The directing was really poor, the dialogue was dull and uninteresting, the acting was really wooden and stale the whole way through, the story is portrayed very weakly, and most of all, the film is super boring and slow. This wasn't a good action movie because all the action scenes were too short and unmemorable, this is even more terrible as a drama because you don't care about a single person in the whole movie and the acting is fake, and the romance served absolutely no purpose whatsoever. Nicolas Cage is a fine actor when he is given a good script and put under a talented director, through all of his poor efforts that he made recently, he just does not care whether he is in a good movie or not. The plot was just meaningless throughout and there are other movies like this that tell this kind of story so much better. Some scenes were lit poorly, and there was even a terribly framed shot of Nicolas Cage and Chakrit Yamnarm doing push ups together because the camera cut off half of both their faces. I know it just one shot but it was incredibly god awful. In the end, this is one of the worst Nicolas Cage films I have ever seen and I'm done thinking about it because the more I think about it, the more pissed off I get.
