Karen K (gb) wrote: I really wanted to like this film, but the poor acting, HORRIBLE - absolutely amateur - special effects, and terrible filming of the action scenes just made it impossible. I could NOT believe this movie had a $90M budget. And the director apparently had ZERO experience with how to make an action scene interesting. He missed every opportunity to ramp up the excitement. Everything was just a blur. They definitely needed someone with more experience than 3 shorts and 1 feature film. Yikes what a disaster. In a way, the inclusion of Banderas, Grammar, and Gibson was a mistake because their high quality of performances showed up just how bad the rest are. While Banderas was positioned primarily as a comedic chatty cathy, he managed to deliver a believably touching (and overlooked) performance with his few gems of serious background story. Gibson was far and away the BEST and most talented in EX3. What a waste of his talent. None of this seemed tongue in cheek for him and he blew everyone else out of the water when he was on screen. They should have killed off Barney and let STONEBANKS live - then an EX4 might have been worth watching.

Stephen M (it) wrote: Gordon Ramsey makes you eat your own heart out in this gorefeast of a movie, its takes all the cliche of modern torture porn and puts a food for thought twist on it.

Jarett B (ru) wrote: Three reasons to love this movie: (1) The skull X-Ray punch. (2) The dreaded groin detatchment and... (3) The iconic throat rip! Sonny Chiba is one bad mother. He's got the facial expressions of Lee and the attitude of Shaft. It's goddamn Kung-Fu madness!

Augustine H (us) wrote: Merchant-Ivory is at its prime here, and so does the flamboyant Emma Thompson. However, the bleak story shattered the beautiful coat and leaves us in sigh and a sense of hopelessness. Unlike the Ivory's previous adaptation of A Room with a View, Howards End features an inconsolable class conflict and snobbism, which devastate mankind and even family love. Those who uphold their principles, like Leonard and Helen, are either defeated or get an undesirable consolation after paying a great price. But E.M.Forster is a fair guy, for the snobs can't get away from the evilness, although I grow sympathy for the disturbing Charles (played by James Wilby) eventually, for in his empty life, he only wants to amuse his father but ends up in despair. Margaret, played by the flawless Emma Thompson, tells us the way out of this conflict - compromise, but only comes with a high price not necessarily bearable for everyone. Vanessa Redgrave shines despite a limited time on screen, for her decision determines the conflicts and a possibility of compromise at the end.

Travis R (es) wrote: A very good biopic. I'll admit that even though I do like jazz music, I don't know a whole lot about the genre and therefor not familiar with Charlie Parker's life or music. Because of this, I was hoping to see more of his beginnings as a musician and his rise to prominence. Other than that, it's well-acted and has great musical performances. If you're a Charlie Parker fan, you may appreciate this more...but any fan of jazz should at least give this a look.

Scott S (es) wrote: Such a wonderful comedy right when silent films were transitioning to talkies. Clair's innovation helped pave the way for sound in movies. The one thing that I loved about this movie is how joy and loved thrived in a deteriorating Paris

Panayiotis P (au) wrote: Brilliant christmas story. Not tiring at all, beautiful in its simplicity. Watching this movie will not remind you of christmas in a strong manner since the director chose not to turn christmas into a focal point. Beautiful family christmas comedy with meaning and in general highly enjoyable.

Marcos L (ru) wrote: Enjoyed the action. Explosions and fighting, guns. A nice moral at the end. The acting wasn't really desirable unfortunately.. Wouldn't pay to see it but a nice rental

Phil H (au) wrote: George Hamilton is actually ok here. He is a good Dracula and quite amusing. The rest of the cast works well and its looks good. The usual story of course but its funny. Surprising really.

Louise D (kr) wrote: Yet another film-about-films. An interesting gallimaufrey of cinematic pastiches; sentimental in places but mostly brings you with it. Veronica Lake kicks ass, despite not even getting a character name.
