Brian N (us) wrote: Though Steve Buscemi was great, the movie was not. It lacked story, it lacked action, it lacked interest. I saw things that could have been great if they had been done right, but, they weren't. The director should have put some effort into this one.

Christopher A (gb) wrote: I was suckered into hiring this because of the cover shot. Lacey Chabert front and centre on the cover (well it looked like it on the photocopied case in the store), I thought she was the star, and she's quasi-decent. The plot was good, but the film was garbage
Tyler K (nl) wrote: Excellent acting; very interesting concept in which the entire film was recorded with hand-held camcorders. A very disturbing and well played theme. My only concern would be the direction, it wasn't necessarily bad, just not all that great and made the film slightly boring at times.
Katelyn B (fr) wrote: I can see how some people like this movie, and I can also see how some can hate it. I am in between the two. I'm sure this is a good movie, but it wasn't my cup of tea, and I couldn't really get into it. I didn't care much for the ending, which just kind of dropped off with no real conclusion. This is a great cast... but Alec Baldwin kinda fell short for me and Timothy Hutton looked like a pedophile to me. And the two Culkin brothers looked like Culkins, and that annoyed me. Haha. I also wish I could have kept a tally of how many times the F-word was said. My God.
Brad M (mx) wrote: Stark, serious and directed with intellegence, Pialat's film embraces its heavy theological conversations and themes head on, never balking for a moment of flair. Its matter-of-fact direction grounds the film in reality and in doing so, adds to the immediacy of its issues. Even a visit by the devil seems normal place. Centering it all is Depardieu's performance as a passionate exorcist who's life and faith are crumbling from his constant exposure to evil, and the absolute abscence of God.
