Grant H (gb) wrote: Awesome movie. Frequency is an intriguing, heart-warming, suspenseful, smart, and action-packed sci-fi movie with great performances from its cast, especially Quaid and Caviziel.
The Critic (de) wrote: John Hughes' classic 80's teen angst drama starring the genre's iconic leading lady, Molly Ringwald, 'Pretty in Pink' is a consistently engaging take on the well-worn star-crossed lovers tale. Gorgeously performed by its young leads (John Cryer is particularly fun) the film remains a career highlight for all those concerned. Its enduring appeal three decades on is a testament to Hughes' ability to speak to a generation in a manner that his contemporaries failed to do.

Jeff B (de) wrote: Very sad film about a boy nicknamed "Poil de Carotte" who doesn't seem to have anyone who will love him. His mother hates him and his father doesn't seem to notice him. So as the film progresses he comtemplates suicide. The young actor did an excellent job as the title character. The final 30 minutes or so are excellent, especially in the barn. The only problem with the film is that the copy I had was an old VHS tape that had bad white subtitles and only about half of the dialogue was actually translated. But the story was easy enough to follow.

Unlike most other films of its kind, it actually works as a political film thanks to solid writing and strong performances from the cast. While the film can be hammy at times, it does succeed at what it aims to do. I was also surprised by how strange and surreal some of the imagery was, which gave the film a dreamlike quality at times. I think this is a very underrated film that is much better than expected.

What sets it apart slightly from the usual run of the mill is an odd jazz flavored score and the presence of Rod Taylor at the beginning of his career. Within a few years he's be working for Hitchcock starring in The Birds as well as appearing in other big budget films like The V.I.P.S. and The Time Machine something that no one else in the cast or any other of these sex and sandal flicks ever got remotely close too.
