Eric V (it) wrote: This send-up of the zombie genre has some strange setup situations that make it feel like a comic book movie (or more like a lengthy Mad comic strip). I was expecting something more like Tucker and Dale Vs Evil, but this low budget horror comedy is worth a single viewing. The actors do well with the bland screenplay

Hopefully the local events can sober George up."You should write something about the day of the dead.""It's been done."John Huston, director of The Maltese Falcon, The Treasure of Sierra Madre, The Man Who Would Become King, Moulin Rouge (1952), and Key Largo, delivers Under the Volcano. The storyline for this wasn't as tight as I would have liked it and I didn't find the characters that compelling. The script was solid. The cast includes Albert Finney, Anthony Andrews, Jacqueline Bisset, and Katy Jurado. "Ride 'em, cowboy!"I DVR'd this picture because it was directed by the legend John Huston. This was disappointing and one of my least favorite pictures from Huston. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to see this."I couldn't get the ring off..."Grade: C-

Nathan H (fr) wrote: The plot, and the movie in general, feel a bit hap-hazard, but in the end, this film is about one person, Sally Field. She won the Oscar for this role, and having seen none of the other women she was nominated against, I am going to say that she deserved it. I found her compelling, so even though the movie is fairly weak, I was fascinated by her transition from reckless drunken whore to hard nosed union organizer.

Lee G (au) wrote: Credulity is stretched as Cornelius and Zira escape the apocalyptic future of the previous sequel to play fish out of water in 1970s Southern California. It's preposterous but surprisingly thoughtful and philosophical, turning the humans into the "bad guys" for the first time in the series. Except of course for Ricardo Montalban, who saves the day (and steals the last act of the film) as a kindly circus owner with a soft spot for apes.

Orlok W (ca) wrote: Filmed in Technicolor, 'COPPER CANYON' is easy upon the eyes, and the post of director is capably filled by John Farrow, who deals nicely with an overabundance of subplots, yet who concentrates upon those elements which will move the action along smartly, yet allow for development of character--Ray Milland was more fun than usual. I thought character development was superior to most westerns of the time; except perhaps for Hedy's role, which seemed a little ambiguous. Good western. Hedy Lamarr's physical presence was an added bonus... Glimmer and colorful Western with splendid main cast and large plethora of secondaries!!

King L (gb) wrote: Daredevil wasn't one of my favorite comic book characters from the Marvel line and also the movie got mixed reviews so I wasn't interested in seeing it. I've been watching the TV version on Netflix so I thought I watch the movie as a point of comparison. I was actually pleasantly surprised because I thought it was pretty good but then I saw the director's cut which wasn't shown in the theaters. Unlike the TV version it's a sexier and highly stylized. The Netflix version is harsher, grittier and has a more realistic feel. The story is pretty much the same with some differences. Ben Affleck plays the title role and I thought he was pretty good in it. Dark and brooding seems to fit his persona. I actually like this better than the version that's being shown on Netflix.
