Anna Lee is railroaded into the asylum by Karloff out of sheer spite. But, she slowly starts to maKe friends with the insane guests. The best moments come when the inmates capture Karloff and put him on trial. And the ending is very Poe-like. It involves a stone wall that is being built. Great fun for any Karloff fan, old horror movie fan, and it is my personal favorite of the Lewton films.

Funny since it's also so very homoerotic... In any case, it can get on one's nerves. Can't deny it's classic status though... as much as it kills me.
