Mira Mohd S (it) wrote: This film is a perfect example of how an engaging & intriguing 1st can be let down by a tepid confusing second half followed by rushed climax. Bobby Jasoos makes a half decent attempt to attain the wholesome pace and the gritty thrill of Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. And going by this film's first half alone, it is semi successful. But that's all. Minus Vidya Balan's superb performance along with a strong supporting cast especially Ali Faizal, the narration falls flat. ?'Bobby Jasoos' is a fair attempt at doing something different, but it fails to leave an impression because it's unable to break-free from Bollywood stereotypes. For a movie that's being pitched as the story of Bollywood's first-ever woman detective, the basics appear unimportant. The investigation is cut short by Bollywood's staple awkward romance, a family drama and unimpressive soundtracks, diluting the impact immensely. Except for people looking to enjoy Hyderabadi slangs, this film is a serious waste of time.

One of the most beautifully shot movies that really didn't have the color or pizazz of some of the cinematography winners in the past, but had the feel of Let the Right One In, a Swedish vampire movie from 2008. The snow enhanced the story, which is, as I have come to find most beautiful movies to be, very sad. Throughout the movie, I felt, as I'm sure others who will or have seen this movie, for certain aspects of each character. The film interacts the emotions of a full lifetime into a two hour span, and in the end, the only thing that seemed to work as I wanted, was the one I was pulling for the most. Everything else went, as the Britons might say, to bullocks. This was by far the best acting role I've seen Kate Beckinsale in, and I've seen a lot of them, and Sam Rockwell added to his more than illustrious career. The rest of the cast, including Amy Sedaris (Jerri Blank from Strangers With Candy) adapted the script phenomenally to the screen. My only gripe with the movie was bullocks part, the short stint of chaos, that spins the ending for a bit, before the film concludes.

Alejandro R (ru) wrote: Epic! The budget certainly allowed for that in this grand production. Had no idea Christian Bale started so young and he was just brilliant as a child actor. I also had no idea I was watching a Spielberg film and I can see it a bit now, but it's not really that typical of Spielberg. It is a film I think very much worth watching, but doesn't seem to have gotten as much attention as it deserves. I was Bale's age at the time he made the film. The typical Spielberg popishness does detract sometimes, but the film is nevertheless a note-worthy spectacle of the triumphant youthful spirit. Great cast, but the film doesn't really express their talents so much, as it is very much told through young Jim's (Bale) eyes, and the telling is full of energy, which is something Spielberg can do well.
