(ru) wrote: Kinshasa, Zaire, 1974, everyone knows of the big boxing fight between Ali and Foreman, but there was a 3 day music festival featuring African artists and American artists. James Brown, BB King, The Spinners and more flew out to Zaire for the first time to celebrate a 'homecoming' of sorts. Due to mostly legal reasons, the footage for the film went unedited and unseen for 35 years. Now recovered, edited, and restored, the chance to see a slice of this incredible event, with concert footage, preparations, interviews with performers, Don King, Muhammed Ali, and of course Zaire of 1974.
(jp) wrote: Too many characters and plotlines floating around in this film, making it a bit schizophrenic and unfocussed. It's not partuicularly funny, but has a good cast with plenty of recognisable faces (young/gay Steeve Coogan is pretty funny to watch!). It's pretty 'soap'y, but wraps things up nicely.
(de) wrote: Less a film than a scattershot series of limp attempts at "satirizing" the horror genre, Scary Movie 2 is unfunny, looks cheap, and more often than not forgoes actual parody in favor of disjointed puerile gags and cruelly mocking the physically handicapped.

(jp) wrote: Thought it was realistic... Maybe not the stupid computer generated effects in the car crash scene... maybe it was suggestive - maybe it was good...

(jp) wrote: After seeing "China O'Brien", I'll give any Cynthia Rothrock movie a look. Here she is a detective on the trail of a serial killer who is killing the top martial arts stars in New York through the tiger claw form of martial arts. Not a bad film but I have a couple of complaints. I was not quite clear on the killer's motives here (never good) and Rothrock spent too much of the film in a parked car doing surveillence while her parter took the lead. Film did well enough to produce two sequels, which I would like to see.
(mx) wrote: Jack Lemmon and Jimmy Stewart star in this comedy about witchcraft. Jimmy's neighbor is a free-spirited jazzing-loving beatnik; she has a crush on him and casts a lovespell when she learns he's already engaged. But, if she truly falls in love with him, she will lose her witchy powers. Thats pretty much the story with the typical Hollywood romance staples.
(jp) wrote: When a prize-fighter(montgomery) is taken 50 years before his time he makes an agreement with angel(Claude Rains) to be put back in another body. Whimsical comedy spawned "Heaven can wait" and "Down to Earth" good performances and an oscar winning screenplay.
(kr) wrote: A young man finds an old ham radio and soon picks up a transmitted voice of his deceased firefighter dad. The second half seems stretched as if the writers were stuck with how to make the film complete and interesting. But, for the most part, the end result is entertaining.
(ag) wrote: Its a nice try at a sweet message, but Shallow Hal is an utterly forgettable and somewhat disappointing film.
(jp) wrote: Not awful, but learn history from history, not from Hollywood. Many inaccuracies that do not do justice to the greatness of the man.
(gb) wrote: A fun little sci-fi flick of time travel. It completely brings you back to the late 80s as far as design, budget and art direction are concerned. The last line of the movie is LOL worthy.
(ag) wrote: Great film. Well acted and brooding plot that slowly unveils and gets better and better as the film progresses. The eventual reveal was rather good too. Recommended.
