Ruthlessly realistic, and vivid and unremitting in its uncompromising brutality and honesty, Beast Cops is a visceral and hard-hitting exploration of the dichotomous existence of two cops charged with upholding the law, while balancing on a moral knife-edge. Compelling and controversial, with a breakout performance of startling intensity from leading man Anthony Wong, this raw and enticing action-thriller has mesmerized audiences worldwide with its disturbing examination of the subjective and marginal morality, which inhabits the uncertain and ambiguous world of law enforcement.

Robert Patrick as FBI agent Jeff Douglas along with two other agents get ambushed while escorting a dangerous drug cartel named Ray (Titus Welliver) from Mexico to the United States. During his freedom, Ray then get his goons to take Jeff Douglas's family hostage so that he could get his heroin across the border since he's a FBI agent even though he was planning have Jeff and his family killed anyway. After Jeff manages to escape a failed assassination attempt on his life, he then goes on a killing spree on the cartels responsible for his family's deceased, and they're called "The White Hand". Some of the action scenes although CGI wasn't used are poorly staged and like I've said above looked like poor imitations of better action movies like John riding the motorcycle similar to the Arnold character from "Terminator 2", the scenes where John's demeanour becoming suicidal was similar to the Mel Gibson character as Martin Riggs scenes of the Lethal Weapon movies as well as the helicopters. And the gun fire scenes from "Hardboiled" which they're times viewers are unable to make out what's happening, or that sometimes the people who're shooting look slightly off. Which now that I think about it seems like it's real intentions was to capitalize on better made and higher budget action movies. 1 star out of 4

(nl) wrote: What the hell? Serial killer cannibal gambler is undone by his own shadow? Stupid. Starts out with a super gory premise that quickly becomes a double cross mystery? I guess. Halsey is pretty creepy though and his disgust is pretty over the top. The cadaver humor falls flat though. Probably undone by the whole cannibal/pig farm beginning, that seems like it belongs in another movie to the second half. Weird. But then it is Fulci, so I guess that explains it.
(ru) wrote: This was reccomended as a "version" of Blood Feast at IMDB and that's an excellent comparison. About as bloody as Blood Feast, but with less stupid humoe than Blood Feast's sequel. This horror comedy has two friends calling up a she god via the brain of one of the friend's dead dad (dont ask). They need an elaborate ceremony to do this, and of course, female organs are required. Fairly gross and twisted, a lot of stupid humor, but this is actually quite entertaining and worth a look.
