Sam B (fr) wrote: Terrible screenplay. And I think everyone knew it was pretty bad, because nobody seemed to be taking things seriously. The screenplay tried to make a lot of good jokes about politics, but it failed at every chance it got.

Mark F (br) wrote: A drop-dead, boring all time.

Dave S (mx) wrote: I don't know if this was actually sort of good, or if I was just really grateful not to be doing homework. One thing I do know - Cyndi Lauper isn't half bad here doing kind of a Judy Holliday imitation, and she totally out-acts Jeff Goldblum. Maybe she just felt she had more to prove? And, not to reveal too much about my knowledge of pop star movie crossovers, but this is way better than what I remember of "Who's that Girl?"

Puni H (us) wrote: story-wise, i think it was pretty good. musical-wise, i would say it's not as fulfilling as Gene's other movies. all in all, this movie was quite an entertainment, though maybe not to be watched over and over again.

Garrett B (gb) wrote: We?re seniors in high-school, and our advanced composition class spent eight weeks reading, analyzing, and dissecting this book. Now we realize it is nearly impossible to capture an entire book in just a single movie. One thing the movie did well was capture the symbolism of the conch and portray the main characters. However, the rest of the movie had us scratching our heads and saying ?WTF?. From the first scene when the boys come in on the raft and the pilot is alive, it is all wrong. You would at least think the movie would start how the book started. The details of the book were all wrong with the magical accordion showing up to the beast the kids found and the glow stick. In the book they talked about how Simon came crawling out of the woods when the boys mistaken him as the beast. Not running on the beach with a glow stick in his hands. Another thing that really yanked on our chain, was the language in the movie. I thought the whole point of the book was about a bunch of innocent little boys crashing onto an island. Not a bunch of cussing, idiotic, crazy boys loving the island. Then it ends how it started, not following the book at all. A helicopter rescuing the boys? The savagery however, was immediately displayed.

Duncan B (jp) wrote: It's definitely not on the levels of like The Godfather or Citizen Kane but for what it is, it's suprisingly good. but if i have to reccomend any scene in particular, it'll be the mega over the top ending with hiding behind a Coke machine from an explosion!
