Samuel B (kr) wrote: Not as good as the first one, though Liotta plays a good "bad" cop. The shots of Detroit are depressing, but that is the reality there, and has been for the past decade at least. The storyline just seemed a little weak on this one, I really don't get what the motive of the bad cop was, and it seems to me like the first movie did a lot better at the story part of it, and the bad guys were really quite bad.

Stewart F (br) wrote: Spoiler Alert! At the end of the day, this is a very weak movie. The acting is good (although it is sad to see what has become of the rather wooden Nick Nolte), but the story is just too implausible. The "twist" is patently obvious, but the ease with which McCall gets her client off (and the evidence she produces) is too easy and literally incredible. It requires too big a suspension of the audience's critical faculties. This is really more a TV movie than a cinema movie.

Allan C (ag) wrote: This one is a must see for fans of end-of-the-world films. Set in Madrid, the entire world population develops agoraphobia and suddenly find themselves unable to go outside, which forces people to stay trapped in the homes, office buildings, apartments or underground. It's an interesting and original scenario because it's a situations that's different from zombies or virus outbreaks. It's a scenario where an audience can't help but ask themselves, "what would I do in this situation?" The only disappointing part is that the film does fall into genre cliches (food running low, rationing of water, civilized folks becoming less civilized, and the main storyline involving a man trying to reach his girlfriend), but the filmmakers execute the story in an suspenseful and engaging manner and also populate the film with realistic characters instead of simple standard issue horror film stereotypes. The two main characters are a young computer programmer and an HR efficiency expert who was about to fire him for being behind on a project, which makes for an interesting dynamic. Written by David and lex Pastor, who also made the underrated end-of-the-world film "Carriers" and which featured Chris Pine before he got big as the new Captain Kirk, they bring the same kind of smart writing and characterization to this film that they did in that earlier one. Overall, this film will appeal to genre fans (if you're okay with subtitles) and to general audiences alike. Well worth watching!

Anne H (nl) wrote: I don't find anything about acute alcoholism or those who are so unfortunate as to be involved in prostitution to be entertaining. This wasn't a love story - it was dysfunction. Although alcoholism & the perils of prostitutes were accurately depicted, the movie was not at all entertaining.

Private U (ca) wrote: Weird and wonderful Aussie film with a great story, brilliant cast and even better soundtrack.

Nikolai E (gb) wrote: If this film had come out after the advent of inline skates, it would have been a catastrophe. Instead, the sight of those clunky four-wheelers on everyone's feet just helps make every scene unintentionally hilarious.
