Dutch painter Jan-Van Rooyer hurries to keep a rendezvous with Jacqueline Cousteau, an elegant, sophisticated Frenchwoman, slightly his elder, whose relationship with him had turned from art student into one of love trysts. He arrives and is confronted by Detective Police Inspector Morgan who accuses him of having murdered Jacqueline. Morgan listens sceptically to the dazed denials of Van Rooyer as he tells the story of his relationship with the murdered woman. Morgan, after hearing the story, realizes that the mystery has deepened, and it becomes more complicated when the Assistant Commissioner, Sir Brian Lewis, explains that Jacqueline was not married but was being kept by Sir Howard Fenton, a high-ranking diplomat whose names must be kept out of the case.

Filius S (ru) wrote: See the movie that everyone is tripping over themselves to hate, even though it's actually pretty decent, because something something Asimov's I, Robot with Jayden Smith Sr. is a better actor. Automata is the story of desperado who has settled into a comfortable life as a robot technicator in the robot future. The city is in the desert, and robots aren't allowed to repair themselves, until some humans find a couple that are. That's bad news because the companies in charge of robots can't just lose money or something, so they try to bury the story. But Zorro is like "what?" and hunts for the truth, eventually meeting some bots who are going to make their own city without blackjack or hookers. The movie is pretty good at showing you how stupid people are, and how robots are better, but also does a pretty good job of setting up a cyber-punk-stopian setting, and touches on a lot of the dumb shit that happens with technology today. It's not philosophically mind-blowing like other robot movies like Tranformers: Rise of the Advertisement, but as a film, it's definitely got quite a bit going for it. TL;DR - 8/10Pretty sweet robot movie, but if you don't like future stuff and Zorro (which I do) it's actually 7/10. If you're into robot movies that tell you what brand of shoes to wear, this movie will be 1/10 Converses, and you will want to watch I, Robot instead.

Stormy (kr) wrote: One of the best B-movie sci fi flicks ever made. Jurassic Park's Michael Lantierie is the big man behind this one. If it would have had a major studio behind it, it WOULD have been a box office hit, easily. Awesome effects for the budget they had. The dialougue has a LOT to be desired, but you can tell the effects and production crew put a TON of time and effort into making this as big as they could. Kudo's to the entire crew.

Peter P (ca) wrote: A very uninspired fight movie. The acting is terrible, the fighting is pretty forgetable and the story is hard to watch for the most part. It gets 2 stars for having a few things that movies need, such as credits and I am pretty sure I saw a "Grip"s name listed, and some punches were thrown, although lamely. Overall, Skip it.

STCENTERPRISE (de) wrote: Foreign Corespondent (1940) Alfred HitchCock film 2nd Anerican film after RebeccaThe film is Set during 1939 This film uses some interesting camera angles especially in the wind mill. I found it interesting how the film started off with a globe and then after the credits zooms out to find the rotating globe is a skyscraper like seen for Superman. Boss from the New York Globe seeks fresh eyes and Does not want a foreign correspondent of economist but wants news to see where Europe stands on facts rather than wait on news. Starts in United States where a journalist is sent to Europe England in order to acquire news for New York Globe News paper to learn and send information about what is going on in Europe to determine if war is eminent or if peace could come soon. Then they go to Holland in the rain and bicycles. While taking a photo acting like a corespondent someone shoots the mayor Mr. Van Meer important in the midst of a crowd in the rain in Holland. The New York corespondent goes after the camera assign in car motorcycle chase. Disappears by windmills Amsterdam in middle of nowhere. wind mill rotates in the opposite direction against wind to signal plane to land. The real mayor Van Meer is hid in a hide out in a windmill sounded by other windmills. The mayor was not shot but a substitute and will be taken by plan but want world to think he was shot. After Globe New York Corespondent gets authorities be finds windmill is empty except one man who claims he has been sleeping there the entire day but is lying. Later that night two police officers arrive and yet they are not police but claim to be. They cut the phone lines. A guy try's to push Ne York Foreign correspondent into driving truck to murder him but he moves out of the way. Go up church cathedral tower to purposely try to kill foreign New York corespondent. He tries to kill him when corespondent moves aside. What I found odd about this film was that this film ended in the midst of a radio broadcast that is in the middle of a German Air-raid of England. His desire & dedication to keep broadcasting as long as possible even in the midst of an air raid to get news to the United States. You have to remember that this film came out in 1940 during the Battle of Britain with German air raids. At the point when this film came out a clear resolution to the war or what would happen was not clearly evident from with side. This film serves as a U.S. propaganda film to see what America could do to support the war in Europe.
