(jp) wrote: The biggest problem with this is that it is only 22 minutes long! Other than that, it is HILARIOUS!!! This makes fun of Star Wars so much, but still manages to feel true to it as well. This is an absolute must for all Star Wars fans! You will laugh...I promise!

Meanwhile, some other sociopath along with his cohorts also know about the missing gold too and attempt by any means of finding it, even if means raiding and then taking over the entire prison to do it. After seeing my fair share of very 'serious' prison films such as "Birdman From Alcatraz", "Cool Man Luke", "Escape From Alcatraz" and "Papillon" to name a few, seeing 7th degree Akido martial artist Steven Seagal kicking ass in a prison system can be a nice change of pace sometimes. There's cheap macho humor, guns and fights what more does one expect in an action movie- pure logic. Did we ever watch Bruce Lee, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sly Stallone movies for their acting. Wires are sometimes used on some of the action fights but it's used on many popular action films from Jet Lee to Donnie Yen movies back in the hey day when action movies were popular in Hong Kong during the 1990's. We also get to see a helicopter stuck on top of a prison ceiling with a machine gun attached to it are some of the highlights in this no brainer action prison flick. And the hip hop soundtrack doesn't hurt the film either. 3 out of 4

It could have been better in parts I feel, the execution wasn't sometimes that good, perhaps a better director would have helped. Interesting premise that might work as a remake.

It's got typical Eastwood western traits, character behavior that would be refined in time to make him a classic in the genre. This film was unnecessarily long and I found the relationship between Jed (Eastwood) and Rachel to be a waste of time. The picnic scene in particular brought the film to a near standstill. I would also like to have seen the vigalante story completely resolved, not ending in the manner it does. Perhaps they were thinking of a sequel? An enjoyable film nonetheless.

(ag) wrote: I liked this more now that I am more familiar with the director's style and the knowledge that the characters are precursors to Firefly. It has the edge up on Alien 3 simply because of its weirdness.
(es) wrote: Certainly a heavier entry on the James Bond franchise that brings a different charm that fortunately works because of interisting charachters and a impressively good performance by Timothy Dalton.
