(kr) wrote: Cardboard boxer is a decent movie showing the life of what it's like to be homeless. Performances are well done and the authenticity is there. The movie is a pretty slow burn and the ending while uplifting does feel a little far-fetched. It's worth renting at least for the performances alone.
(au) wrote: Good details within the film (great soundtrack & 80's style somewhat) but horribly acted and scripted. Everything happened way too fast and it didn't have a good character development or background. No one was likeable either. The deaths were okay. Good gore even though it was very little.

(mx) wrote: Starts out rather slow, but by the end I can gladly say I would kill that gang with my bear hands. This film made me very angry to watch, but I would gladly kill them all.
(mx) wrote: cliche to a fault, Zookeeper's dull, dreadful comedic formula is almost saved by the often funny voice actings.

(br) wrote: Poignant, raw and dark thriller about a strong-willed mother named Dolores Claiborne who's accused of murdering a wealthy woman she's been working for a longtime. Until, the word gets out directly towards her daughter Selena. Who works as a journalist in New York. Selena is an estranged, depressed woman who yearns to do a very important assignment for the paper. But, then she decides to fly back to Maine to witness what happened to her mother. During the film Dolores tells her daughter about the bone-chilling events that Selena herself can't remember. Kathy Bates wonderfully awed the audience by her raw performance as fiery yet, prudent woman caught in a tragic mess. Same goes to Jennifer Leigh.

One day, in walks David(Simon Baker), a history teacher at a local all-girls high school and his beautiful wife, Elaine(Frances O'Connnor). Chet who is inexperienced in the ways of the world is fascinated to hear about their trip to Cambodia. Upon learning that he has never been to New York City, they take him under their wing and invite Chet along with them to watch a friend sing at a Manhattan nightclub. When David falls asleep after a barbecue, Chet makes a drunken pass at Elaine... "Book of Love" is an intelligent movie that is not afraid of going to dark and uncomfortable places. It is about the consequences to be faced when self-control is lost. And Frances O'Connor gives a truly heartfelt performance.
