Octavian (it) wrote: Warning:War violence (bombs, firearms, shooting people and animals)VomitingA series of genocidal atrocities viewed and participated in by the main character, with animation done in flash animation, obviously originally intended to be posted to NewGrounds. It's just a series of disjointed flashbacks to horrifying events. With no background story. If you don't know your Israeli history, you're stranded and excluded from understanding, and may mistake this films for some kind of disturbing snuff film. I shouldn't rip on the animation, because it probably would have been okay if it had any backup. This is ugly and violent history whose animation allows people to distance themselves from it, and appraise it as an 'artsy film'. If this was acted, or even well animated, viewers would be vomiting and complaining about its lack of redeeming qualities. But it's drawn, so it's soul "baring and emotional". What a fantastic display of sort-of-curious-but-then-distracted apathy

For some odd reason I am fascinated by the material here and I have seen most of the versions made. This one holds its own vis-a-vis Stephen Frears celebrated film. Someday I might be tempted to adapt it to contemporary Mumbai. Not able to invent a climax in lieu of duel.

Kenny N (jp) wrote: As someone who could never stand "Friday the 13th," this film is a great take on the slasher flick. The characters always seemed to be more thought out and fully fleshed (pardon the expression) than the average people who populate slashers. The villain is a memorable one, and it has a great twist ending. I understand why it's rated so low on here (it's a good slasher, but a slasher's a slasher, and that's not a genre known for attaining "Citizen Kane' levels of cinematic greatness) but as a horror movie fan who appreciates effort and really good scares, I make it a V-day tradition to see this one.
