Ela T (de) wrote: It's weird and it has uncomfortable scenes (as a surgery in details). A movie with a great cast (Ralph Finnes, Kristin Scott Thomas and Penelope Cruz) but I didn't like it. In fact, I liked only the last 10 minutes. Two stars cause the cast only.

Kenny M (kr) wrote: Not to be confused with "House of Dark Shadows", this is one of the most disappointing movies I have ever seen. You would think that a movie with the great Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, and John Carradine would be worth your time, but trust me on this one, its not. When I first heard of this movie's existence, I said to myself "Damn, why isn't this movie on DVD yet?" After finally watching it I understand why. Even Ricky Ricardo Jr was terrible.

Nathan C (ag) wrote: Despite relying on atmosphere rather than blood and gore, this film does not quench my thirst for a good horror/suspense movie. There may be fine acting, but the film's prone to horriblathermia: Stage 1 - poor characterization; Stage 2 - bland chemistry; Stage 3 - its inability to scare or create feelings of unease; Stage 4 - complete boredom (this is also known as the stage in where there's no hope for this movie now); Stage 5 - predictable ending. The music failed to make it any better. Instead of trying to find a plot (or watch this movie), actually hike through the desert, but bring a lot more water than the idiots in this film did (They only brought 2 bottles, which wasn't very smart).

Bill T (it) wrote: Excellent film if viewed one way. A boys whose parents are killed in the war moves in with his Grandfather. All is going very well, until one day he wakes up, yes, with green hair. The film then becomes this excellent study in prejudice and what not, quite powerful even. It falls apart considerably when the boy finds out the supposed reason for his hair color change, and it's political message is lame and not needed, marring (seriously) this otherwise fine tale of prejudice.

Stephen S (au) wrote: Why do so many people like this movie? It's awful! To be fair to Nic Cage, his acting isn't bad, but he sure as hell didn't deserve to win an Oscar for his performance. And the ending is probably one of the worst I've ever seen in a film. Do not see this piece of shit.

Lynda M (nl) wrote: A mature, intelligent film, unlike the tacky sexual triangle stories we tend to get. Excellent performances and well controller by Schlesinger.

David J (kr) wrote: Feminism on the Great Frontier: Tommy Lee Jones' adaptation of "The Homesman" suffers from tonal inconsistencies, but asks important questions about traditional gender roles.
