Vanessa L (mx) wrote: A beautiful, real movie about a 40-year friendship started over a mutual love of books. In a time when communication via phone, email etc is the norm, it is nice to remember that letters were (and are) a beautiful, powerful way to communicate. Bancroft and Hopkins were amazing.

D M (ca) wrote: The good doctor apparently didnt kill himself at the end of the first one, as he has awoken himself after a period of suspended animation. He is now intent on reviving his dead wife, and heads to Egypt in order to use some ancient techniques to do so. Really not as clever (Egyptian-themed deaths were not as interesting) or as exciting as the first one, but the tone was the same and jokes were generally done well. I see Saw hints here.

The storyline for this picture is very interesting and contains marvelous characters. Sinatra's acting was awesome and this was the first time I have seen him in a movie and felt he delivered a performance on par with the great Paul Newman. The cast also includes Kim Novak, Eleanor Parker, Arnold Stang, George Stone, Darren McGavin, and Robert Strauss."Everyone is a habitual something."I DVR'd this picture after reading its synopsis on the Turner Classic Movie (TCM)'s website. I was shocked how well Sinatra delivered this performance. This was a very interesting picture. The entire film goes in several directions and the conclusion is always in doubts. It is a sad picture but definitely a must see for fans of the classics."Nothing like the first drink of the day."Grade: A-

Johnny T (it) wrote: Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation continues the franchise's thrilling resurgence -- and proves that Tom Cruise remains an action star without equal. McQuarrie understands that these films are essentially tall tales with a sense of humor, skating on the edge of parody at all times while maintaining a poker face. The action scenes are predictably magnificent, and an excellent supporting turn from fetching new cast member Rebecca Ferguson helps make this a sexy, propulsive, top-notch thriller. The formula of ingredients is familiar and time-tested, to be sure, but some cocktails go down much better than others and McQuarrie and company have gotten theirs just right here. At once questioning and reaffirming the pleasures of cinematic espionage, this is the rare sequel that leaves its franchise feeling not exhausted but surprisingly resurgent at 19 years and counting. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation lives up to the franchise name, presenting us with a successful outcome to the seemingly impossible mission of producing a truly excellent summertime action flick. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation never pretends to be anything but a solidly entertaining collection of fighting, chasing, driving, falling and going-to-the-place-and-getting-the-thing. But at that level, it delivers completely. Choose to accept it.VERDICT: "High-Quality Stuff" - [Positive Reaction] This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent. (Films that are rated 3.5 or 4 stars)
