But the Hour Is Near
A hysterical documentary about two American evangelists working in Latvia. Erik is a super-pious moralist. But Daniel is a super-consumerist who preaches the gospel of wealth. Their arguments and battles are laugh-out-loud funny as they attempt to convert the heathen (who smile and look on in pure amusement). Daniel insists that they both wear Pierre Cardin suits, because "the Lord wants us to look good while we are among the people." Daniel also plays the slots in Riga's notorious riverboat casinos, praying for God to help him win money so he and Erik can continue their missionary work.

Rahul Dholakia's ''PARZANIA'' which released long back in 2007 had a heart-breaking plot of a 10-year old Parsi boy getting lost in the riot, In Firaaq, Nandita narrates 6 stories which are neither connected to each other nor unites in the culmination documenting the horrific and shameful chapter of Godhra Riots in 2002. The movie might not be so haunting as ''Parzania'' but it pricks our conscious after every narratives. You feel for the characters who's life got changed irrevocably after the event. Gujarati abused wife (DEEPTI NAVAL) is haunted by the guilt for not opening the door for a Sobbing Muslim lady during the riot, Mixed Religion couple (TISCA CHOPRA & SANJAY SURI) prepares to get shift to Delhi as the Muslim husband scares for what would happen next. An auto-rickshaw driver's house get burned down so his wife (SHAHANA GOSWAMI) suspects her hindu friends's husband involvement in it. An Optimistic Elderly Muslim musician (NASEERUDIN SHAH) finally resigns himself from the fact that music can calm the rage & A Muslim Boy,in search of his father, is unaware that he has been orphaned in the carnage, Director Nandita Das doesn't shy away from showing the dark side of her character as well. There is a scene where Paresh Rawal's character asks his younger brother DILIP JOSHI whether did he enjoy the gangrape he participated in ? and moment later switches on the News seeing a Muslim lady criticizing the carnage and complaining of destroying her dignity to which Joshi says These lady have less dignity to begin with. These scene made such a powerful impact in this powerful film. There are many scenes which will shock you completely because we haven't come across such harsh reality-check before. Performance is memorable from each and every cast, no doubt but the actors who haunt you the most till the end of the show is DEEPTI NAVAL, SHAHANA GOSWAMI & the child actor playing Orphan Mohsin. ''Firaaq'' is the movie you shouldn't miss because it's inherently honest with a powerful message to be delivered, 2 thumbs up for Fantastic Actress's first Fantastic directorial debut. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
(it) wrote: Great movie about the Renaissance of Disney animation. I grew up during this period, so these movies, at least to me, are classic. They created characters & songs that will stay with me for my entire life. This story needed to be told because the journey to get those movies made was hard & grueling. Those animators are amazing & so are the big-wigs who supported them.

The film has a group of young friends (including two brothers, a wild couple, and a stranded camper) coming under attack by a big, fat, and very vicious hillbilly who kills people in VERY gory fashion while making snuff films out of the murders. Yeah, nothing too terribly new here, but the story offers a somewhat fun and tongue-in-cheek approach that is so over the top in gore and violence, it is almost reminiscient of a Ryan Nicholson film (Gutterballs, Live Feed). Also, kudos to the filmmakers for persuading some of the most beautiful women ever to star alongside some of the most ugliest bunch of dudes. The most recognizable person in this film would probably be the chick of the wild couple, played by Kristyn Green, whose done a fair amount of modern Full Moon movies like Evil Bong, Doll Graveyard, and Dead Man's Hand. Also, the one naked chick in this film looked very hot as well. Overall, this wound up being quite a gem for me, mainly because I'm a fan of slashers, excessive gore, and very painful, bloody deaths. If you do not like any of these components, you are wasting your time with this film. Seriously, please do not watch it, because you'll only end up being a dipshit and screwing up the ratings system for this film.

On top of that the whole movie is convoluted and confusing-- and there's just no point to trying to figure it out when you don't give a crap about anything that's happening in the first place.

Gordon Liu with a moustache pulls out a great fight against Lo Lieh, along with Yue Wong trown in the mix. The plot has some comedy points, also very common with LKL flicks, but worry not, there's enough kicks and punches. Kara Hui is in this too (damn LKL, lucky bastard)

I would actually be interested in seeing a sequel to this.
