(jp) wrote: This documentary on the 2008 Bernard Madoff investment scandal came across as a self-promotion for the elaborate Ponzi scheme whistleblowers since it never fully features Madoff himself but primarily on one, understandably yet tiresome, crazed individual. While the producers tried making it engaging by employing various camera techniques or reenactment segments, it felt contrived. Editing was a huge issue as it took some time before it finally settled on a thread of thought to focus on. Despite the calamitous subject matter, "Chasing Madoff" never ran the hard enough the full extent.

Elvis is an ex-bandit whose old crew has framed him for the theft of a Mexican national monument. When the crew leader's brother gets arrested in the town where Elvis is holed up, the crew turns their monument, a working gold-plated cannon, on the town. Elvis stays cool while remedying the situation.

For it to then end as 'corny' as the storyline and some of the overplayed acting!! How in gods name do you end a movie in the manner in which this ended and rate it so highly!! I have lost faith in the critics of today! To rate this so highly!!! Really regretted watching this pile of garbage!
(jp) wrote: Although the movie doesn't have the best film quality, or the best actors, or the best screenplay, or the best budget, does not deter it from having one of the most important and timeless messages ever produced in cinema. So often I find not only critics (of course known for being undoubtedly critical) but also regular movie goers making an unfortunately harsh reviews on a movie because it's not the next Clint Eastwood blockbuster without giving careful consideration to the film's plot and message. I believe that story, theme, purpose, and message trump any special effects, costume designs, or other crap that could easily be peddled into a movie that has nothing to say. This film speaks volumes about an issue that is so rarely addressed to this extent in media. It boldly holds a mirror up to the intolerance of society towards ideas that cannot be proven with simple explanations. Best movie to ever receive 15% on Rotten Tomatoes.
(es) wrote: I get that this is a well-made movie, but it hit too close to home for me. In this age where the media is made out to be the enemy, seeing this movie is only going to reinforce that perception. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie where the characters are this repulsive. I know there are people out there like Lou in this business, but he's not someone I want to be associated with. And it gets a lot of the TV stuff wrong. Lou and Nina wouldn't spend five minutes having a conversation after she has just said there was only 10 minutes to get this story on the air. Lou would realize that he wouldn't be able to talk to a reporter out live by just shouting something in the control room. Not a fun viewing experience for me.
(fr) wrote: Although predictable with a similar plot to Sleepless in Seattle where both characters don't know each other and meet at the end of the film, but it is still a sweet romantic comedy worth watching.
