(fr) wrote: Beautifully directed and acted love triangle story with a difference. Apart from containing one of the first male to male sex scenes in commercial film history, it reveals the problematic these type of relationships entail with a lot of maturity. There is an air of "joie de vivre" which exalts and celebrates intimate human relationships as well as family ties (specially memorable the family with the children Alex and Bob au-pair) and invites the audience to abandon themselves to them too as they can only bring joy and meaning to life. Peter Finch and Glenda Jackson are splendid.

(fr) wrote: A tour de force of terrible filmmaking, Glen or Glenda is one of the most entertaining movies I've watched in a long while. The movie reaches glorious depths (heights?) of cinema in the bizarre-o dream sequence featuring transvestites (not homosexuals), gyrating women, men with whips, and a demon with giant eyebrows. A true delight.
(ag) wrote: Dolores Del Rio ,Kay Francis ,Ricardo Cortez .Dick Powell , and more this film is a high camp classic,The film's most outrageous moment, however, is an uninhibited chunk of homosexual humor on the dance floor ("Boys will be boys!", crows Jolson) years ahead of its time, also has a variety of singers, dancers, comedy, and a cast that all have a story, lavish, classical stough
(it) wrote: Super fun comedy with all the makings of a classic and the allure of a nice old sleeper. If you haven't seen it, hunt it down and indulge in some dumb old comedy. Great for a really late night movie.
(us) wrote: Ok movie. Frenetic zaniness goes overboard here. Martin Short fans tho will find a goldmine here!Sorry, I'm generally not a Short fan.
(ru) wrote: I didn't like Jeff's love interest. We know almost nothing about him outside of his coming out story, and whenever he talks to Jeff he comes off as a bit of a jerk. And I feel that way because, to repeat, we know nothing about this guy outside of his sexual identity and his job. If there is one things the movie could've done, it is expand its characters. Movie, you don't have the constraints of the stage, though the stage is capable of some wonderful characters (and sometimes less is more), so you should utilize the larger scope. Also, this being a movie, some things should've been adapted or changed from the original play to fit the new format. The characters don't need to break the 4th wall and tell me how they feel. I should be able to infer it from how the scene is framed and shot, the acting, the music, the colors and everything else. As is, I got a pretty decent play on TV, with good actors (for the most part) and OK music. I'm never going to say no to Russell Crowe in booty-shorts.
