Stephen S (ca) wrote: One of the worst, unintentionally funniest films I have ever seen. This film is so bad, there's not even a word to really describe it. It's basically a complete rip-off of Lion King, and I swear there's elements of Mad Max thrown in. All I can say is that if you force yourself to sit down and watch Dino King, you will be entertained by how incredibly bad this is. The voice acting is horrendous to the point of causing hysterical laughter. Plus I've never seen a more repetitive movie...the same plot points keep recurring over and over again.

Michael S (it) wrote: 'Finely acted by all' is something you'll be bound to read in any reviews (and exquisitely shot), but to me these performers looked hungry for more. And rightly so, since this screenplay seems utterly satisfied with delivering a most mundane series of dramatic issues and not particularly interested in having any satisfying conclusions. Hoffman is uniformly fine, but it's also another implosion role (with one standout moment of true fire) that he does so well but could also do without. Keener plays another glum, vaguely unhappy woman. Walken is the standout here, reminding us of what considered, nuanced performances he is capable of. Ivanir performs adequately as a driven artist, hard on himself and others in his perfection. The films wants us to see these people as so utterly committed to their art that they can't decide how to separate their lives from it. I had trouble seeing them as such when the narrative spends so much time on banal infidelities, underwritten confrontations/arguments, and trite medical drama. Better films have been made about artistic passion and even addiction to one's own work ethic. 'Broadcast News' does a better job of showing what a difficulty it can be for driven people to have personal lives. Here, everything feels half baked. If this is the first melodrama you've ever seen, you will be inclined to think of it as a great film. .

Dann M (de) wrote: The hilarity continues in Hot Shots! Part Deux, a parody film based on Rambo. When a hostage situation arises in Iraq, Topper Harley is recruited to lead a rescue mission. In addition to the Rambo films, there are parodies of Basic Instinct, T2, Hunt for Red October, Lady and the Tramp, and Star Wars. The humor's a little broader and more slapsticky than in the first film, but there are still some clever and outrageously funny comedy bits. Hot Shots! Part Deux may not be as witty or well-written as the original, but it still delivers plenty of laughs.

Michael W (kr) wrote: Eccentric film has Brad Pitt in the title role; an aspiring 50s style musician and mental lightweight. Several offbeat characters usually kills a film for me but you can see why Pitt's career went upward fast; he's seems right for this role. More of a character study, not a heavy plot.
