(jp) wrote: Very nice performances. Sad tale of one man blind since he was a boy, who is now an English professor and is seemingly happily married with a lovely little girl. One day when his sight is suddenly restored his perception of his life changes, and not for the better. Seeing with one's soul instead of one's eyes is what this is all about. Didn't care much for the ending but overall very nice film.

(mx) wrote: This was like a romantic comedy with Jackie Chan action and stunts. I don't know if that's the best combination, but I really kinda liked it. It was all so clean and lighthearted - even the bad guy was kind of a nice guy. Watching this movie was a fun time for sure.

(ag) wrote: Why does everything seem peripheral in this movie? Then, the music is over-bearing and those fade-ins and -outs give it an old-fashioned feel. But ultimately, it's a bit boring. Maybe it's just the characters who, warts and all, are unattractive. Flap (maybe) is the exception.
(us) wrote: Overlong & underwrought British western really for fans of Sean Connery that I really had a rough time sticking w/. even as a fan. Those Apache were damn ruthless especially when they were pouring sand into that chicks mouth who was pretending to be dead it really paints Indians in a bad color. Brigitte Bardot isn't really worth much except to look good. Her romantic relationship w/ Connery reallly added nothing except making this movie a half of an hour too long. It's watchable though for oater fans who are looking for something a bit different but bangers & mash westerns are nothing special. Give me the spaghetti anyday

(jp) wrote: Hellraiser is one hell of a unique horror film! It's not the most horrific movie you'll ever see, but even for today's standards this film has it's charm.

(kr) wrote: A fascinating character piece, Pawn Sacrifice looks at the tragedy and genius of chess Grandmaster Bobby Fischer. After withdrawing from competitive play American chess Grandmaster Bobby Fischer is approached by a lawyer looking to be his backer and to help him to win the world chess championship and a victory for America in the Cold War; however Fischer's eccentricities and neurosis start to get more and more out of control and threaten to destroy everything that he's worked for. Tobey Maguire, Liev Schreiber, and Peter Sarsgaard lead the cast and give incredibly good performances. And director Edward Zwick does an impressive job at depicting Fischer's psychoses through his use of the camera. But the storytelling is a little weak, feeling disjointed and underdeveloped at times. Yet overall Pawn Sacrifice is a gripping tale and a cautionary reminder of the price that often comes with pursuing greatness.
