(us) wrote: The first act is absolutely horribly edited, some of the worst professional work I've ever seen in that aspect. And it doesn't pick up massively afterwards. I'm glad Gridhouse Revival is a thing, but Dear God No! is not a great example of it. For the most part they embrace the deliberately terrible qualities and play the exploitation almost entirely for laughs (seriously there is a ten minute sequence with a trio of Nixon strippers) but there is a scene in the middle of pretty traumatising sexual violence, which is so drastically juxtaposed to the light-hearted attitude of the style that came before it and after that it's actually really uncomfortable. Not in an "Oh what a great movie, it made me feel something way." More of an "Ew I'm really not sure what inspired this choice stylistically, should I turn this off now?" way. But there's some humour, some bad gore and some Supernatural-Nazi jazz going on in there too, so if that's your sort of thing then I guess you could do worse than Dear God No!...If you tried really hard.

(br) wrote: Oh, how I love this movie. Why? Because I'm a fan. It's subtle and relaxing images that really keeps you in a state were you completely pay attention to the person talking (which is always Kurt) and become engrossed with what he is saying. The movie gives you beautiful images to look at while you sit back and LISTEN to what this man has to say. No more judging.

(us) wrote: Now, I only have one more Lee film to see, He Got Game. Why I waited this long to see Crooklyn, is beyond me. This film was perfectly paced and directed with ease and comfort. Performances from everyone were impressive, especially Troy's character. The story was warm and full of soul and it's a fantastic film that's rooted very much as a companion piece to Do The Right Thing, which I absolutely adore.

(de) wrote: This stand-up comedy was absolutely hilarious and leaves you laughing from start to finish. Eddie Murphy's willingness to bear it all out on stage clearly makes his humor appealing to all ages, races, shapes and sizes. Eddie Murphy's stand up performance was truly unforgettable and warrants the word "great"...
(kr) wrote: Cagney?s excellent performance enhances this interesting biography of Lon Chaney. It?s a very well crafted film, good direction by Joseph Pevney, but it is Cagney?s film all the way. Moving and always interesting.
(de) wrote: has anyone noticed that critics have absolutely 0 sense of humour when it comes to rating films and they always use big words to make it seem like they no know what they're talking about
(es) wrote: Raunchy. A couple funny parts.
(au) wrote: It's well made and well acted but it's incredibly dull. It's about the last 25 years of a famous British painter. And while this movie is 2 and half hours long, his character doesn't go through any changes. He's the same at the end as he is at the beginning. It's simply about his life and yet doesn't tell you much about it. Several events take place but none of them are particularly significant to him or the film at large. While the visuals are nice and clearly inspired by the work of Mr. Turner, there simply isn't enough going on to warrant such a lengthy running time.
(mx) wrote: Maybe the best film M.Night Shyamalan has ever done, this quiet thriller explores the theory of superheroes living amongst us. It's not the usual superhero film but it's so well done & the cast is so great i was completely blown away & really surprised how much i enjoyed this film.
