Cirque du Soleil: Dralion

The Chinese consider the lion a symbol of good luck, so it's a half-dragon, half-lion – a dralion – that is the symbol of the East-meets-West fusion of this performance in which 36 Chinese acrobats join the renowned Canadian troupe. Celebrating the four elements as represented in four colours – blue (air), green (water), red (fire) and ochre (earth) – Dralion combines ancient Chinese circus traditions with Cirque du Soleil's usual stunning elements: the techno-oriented single ring; the multicoloured lights and costumes; the music that mixes rock, New Age and various world influences (though not Chinese); and the madcap clowns that pull a victim out of the audience.

Fusing the 3000 year-old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque du Soleil, Dralion draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and it's never ending quest for harmony between man and nature. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Mikael K (ag) wrote: Adapted from a play by Claudia Allen, ??Hannah Free?? is one of those films that rely completely on dialog and performances. And this time both are spot on perfect, with Sharon Gless shining as Hannah, an old woman slowly dying in a hospital. The core of the story is Hannah relationship with Rachel, a woman who is dying in that very same hospital. Rachel's family won't let Hannah say her farewells to a lifelong partner who could slip away at any minute. This premise sounds endlessly corny, but with a powerful play behind it this movie turns into a stylish drama about everyday life. Through flashback sequences and experimental scenes the relationship of the two quite different women gets illuminated in a way that isn't sappy or overly romantic. Allen has adapted the script herself, and her scenes show some true literary talent. The only thing that prevents ??Hannah Free?? from being completely excellent is the production, most notably the cinematography. The film is lit like a daytime soap opera, and when the microscopic budget is apparent and the story is already flirting with the sentimental this really put me off. The movie holds itself together commendably well, but the clichd look does have a slightly crippling effect. Still, this one gets very near to perfection, which is more than enough for me to recommend it warmly.

Allan C (ca) wrote: Charming little Chevy Chase/Goldie Hawn comedy from writer Neil Simon. The film is a nice throwback to classic screwball comedies which Chase on the run from the law and having to hide out with his ex-wife Hawn and her new husband Charles Grodin. The comedy doesn't reach Hawkes or Sturges levels of screwball comic heights, but it's a very likable cast, with good chemistry between the leads and some pretty funny moments. Robert Guillaume, Harold Gould, and T.K. Carter also appear in the film.

The storyline for this picture is fun and unfolds well. The acting is also first rate and the cast includes Peter Lorre, Andrea King, Robert Alda, John Alvin, and Patricia Barry."Nothing can stop me, neither ghosts nor bullies."I came across this on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) this Halloween season and had to DVR it. This was entertaining and fun to watch unfold. I loved Peter Lorre's performance. This is a nice classic horror picture that is worth your time."The hand tried to strangle him."Grade: B-

Splu U (de) wrote: This movie is so funny and cute! The cleverness of the jokes is awesome! The story is so well written and heartwarming without being too sappy. You know a film maker is a master when they can convey so much without any dialogue. It is a wholesome movie for kids, too! I also love the way this movie looks. Everything looks so glossy and sleek, like marzipan. After seeing this, I knew I had to watch the TV series as well.

Mark L (nl) wrote: I loved it! I laughed and cried. Thank you for creating such a heartfelt and lighthearted movie. I would love to watch more movies like this one.

Matt L (it) wrote: This one got me right in the childhood. I knew it would be hard to adapt one of my favorite dramatic cartoons, but this film succeeds. If you're a fan of the show, you will enjoy how closely the film stays to it's roots. The film is broad and epic with some great special effects. The characters are cast well as their cartoon counterparts and deliver believable performances. Fans of the show should enjoy.
