Duncan is a genius straight A student, Blade is juvenile delinquent. But because of a mix up with their school records, everyone thinks each is the other one. Now, Duncan kind of likes the attention from being thought of as a real bad dude, if only the school bully would stop trying to rough him up. I'm perhaps fairly nave when it comes to filmmaking, and I can appreciate the high acclaim for the visually technical aspects of the film, but stories about rich people who squander their money in pursuit of acceptance just seem to leave me cold.I wasn't bored by the film, for it was visually beautiful. But I found I was much more interested in what I was seeing than by what I was being told. Joseph Cotten I thought was really cool in this, and more likable than Welles, as he was for me in The Third Man.
(es) wrote: A cute movie that fails badly in the writing department. An evil housekeeper? Now there is an original twist.
(au) wrote: A charming fairy tail that is well written and aimed at the family audience. The Victoriana sets are a delight and full of fun making for a hilarious background. The actors are genuinely amusing and this comes out in the precarious sensibilities of the situations. Music is sensuous with the photography capturing the oddment of the characters well. Nibbles: Ice cream and Jello.
