Kristina K (nl) wrote: Its interesting how the Chicago police will need Indian Police to solve their big crimes. Its so hilarious and unrealistic it makes you you wanna switch to a Turkish series.

And initially there was no suspense because the mentally disabled guy seemed kind of nice, and the girl was dead, so, really, how much worse could it have gotten? Then he became crazy, which seemed a little unnatural considering his character before. But by then we were well into the movie, and I wasn't quite so invested in the plot. So.

David L (jp) wrote: I wish I could watch every movie ever made but I sadly don't have the time. I'm not interested in this movie because I don't think I'll like it or don't know enough about it to think I might like it. I may still end up seeing it some day though.

Ryan J (ru) wrote: an ageing yakuza gangster is sent south to help out another clan against his wishes. he wishes to retire but soon realises there is no way out. double crossing ensues. the violence is sudden and quick, quite brutal. there are alot of light hearted moments too, the group have to hide out on the beach and the middle section is quite relaxed and humourous with takeshi becoming a practical joker. kitano always plays the straight face so much he has that "am i just a normal civilian or am i just fooling you into a false sense of security?" look about him (the scene of saving the girl on the beach is exactly what that means), so calm yet so dangerous. i like his films alot. well filmed, beautiful location, good action pieces (the lift scene is brutal) and well acted. top notch.

Christopher H (ca) wrote: If I discovered anything from "When A Stranger Calls", it is that inside me lives a vast hatred for the sound of a ringing phone. Amidst a chorus of those rings is an attempt at a home invasion thriller that sees a babysitter answering the phone to heavy breathing, casual threats, and fellow classmates playing jokes. Camilla Belle plays the role of innocent babysitter just fine, but remains a blank canvas that is never quite painted in. With poor decision after poor decision, I found myself cheering for Tommy Flanagan to finish her off, or to at least finish me off, so that I would not have to watch any more of this sordid cat and mouse thriller. One thing that never fails to amaze me is how ill-prepared these serial killers are for a female that will fight back, regardless of how small and weak they are.

Dana L (nl) wrote: This is a very funny movie !! Even though it's older its still good , a classic . Its along the same lines as Animal House . The farting contest is a little sick but funny at the same time . And I laughed my " ass " off towards the beginning of the movie when they drive around mooning everyone .

Aephraim S (nl) wrote: Technically, just a mind-blowing piece of cinematography, especially (but not only) for the time. And while of course the thing is a blatant piece of propaganda, that doesn't make it easy to disagree with most of the underlying message, even when things get a bit predictable and naive. Anyway, it's slow-moving but beautifully done, so settle in with a cigar and a bottle of rum and let it roll over you. And then write a letter to Obama about this ridiculous and unethical embargo.

Aaron B (ru) wrote: A decent effort that would've been so much better if it just stopped trying to be so cool.
