Everything just shacks and shantytowns. Massive crime even in the airports? Wild animals roaming the place? If I hadn't recognized some parts of SA, I'd have thought the crew never visited the place.
AJ D (br) wrote: loved this movie. I love to see what indie horror film directors can do. I loved the scares it produced. it would get 5 stars from me but it's an indie movie so 5 stars would mean an oscar nomination. Well done

Tim W (de) wrote: I actually really liked it. The acting was good and the story was interesting and the ending was pretty good. I haven't read the books so I'm going solely off the movie. Nothing really new or unique though. 6.5/10

Ashley H (kr) wrote: Equilibrium is a disappointing film. It is about a man in charge of enforcing the law rises to overthrow the Fascist system. Christian Bale and Sean Bean give terrible performances. The script is badly written. Kurt Wimmer did a horrible directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture.

Based on pulp comic mens adventure type books, this story follows an adventurer hired to save a woman's sister from white slavery. Much the same set-up as Eaten Alive or even Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death, but none of those movies are at all similar. The humor was for the most part lost on me as I didnt care for the actor delivery of the material (which he, apparently, wrote).

It was refreshing to see a movie that actually cared about capturing the verdant beauty of southern Appalachia (as well as the Carolina Piedmont). The producers of 'Justified,' a show set in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, didn't care about that at all. It was shot in California, and they didn't try to hide it. There are no burnt, bare hills and scrub in Appalachia or the Piedmont; both are lush and blanketed with trees.

Unfortunately there is little that is actually horrific here aside from a few shock moments and the whole thing feels a bit laboured. The cast are pretty strong and do their best with the material but you kind of wish the whole thing had been compresses into a short story and thrown into another portmanteau film. I think I'll stick with 'Asylum' and 'Vault of Horror' in the future.

So, he knows what he's doing when it comes to shooting the models of the space ships and projections in the background. These effects look amazing! The conservation theme, the slightly altered interior of the aircraft carrier Valley Forge, and the pre-R2D2 droids hold promise. Trumbull talks about the droids in one of the DVD special features. The non-anthropomorphic droids with double-amputee actors inside were one of his earliest concepts when developing this film. They are not a threat to man like HAL. Like in Wall-E, man can eliminate the flora of Earth by himself. I'm not a fan of either pop song featured in this flick by Peter Schickele (AKA P.D.Q. Bach) and sung by Joan Baez. Bruce Dern as Freeman Lowell has a couple scenes with the drones that are touching. However, the dialog and general untested low-budget feel of the story and characters was not flattering.
