Ahmed M (nl) wrote: Very underrated movie, the idea sounds really good on paper but as a film it feels like a mess, as it's always jumping around which doesn't help to keep your attention. Personally, I thought the movie was pretty straight-forward and easy to understand, but whether you can understand it or not, it's up to you.

John D (ru) wrote: Spoiler filled reviewThe topsy turvey twisting Ocean(TM)s Eleven knockoff that is Smokin(TM) Aces flipped, kicked, and turned me into liking it more than I thought. I say Ocean(TM)s Eleven meaning that it really started out like one in the series. The music, Location, The character/storyline setups, and heck it even had Andy Garcia. But somewhere between a chainsaw and a kid with numbchucks it turned into it(TM)s own movie. And that movie was great. The Casting was amazing and probably was my second favorite thing about this movie. Andy Garcia, Ryan Reynolds, Ray Liotta, Alicia Keys, Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Peter Berg, Common, Jeremy Piven, Chris Pine, Kevin Durand, Mathew Fox, and if you got Booger? from Revenge of the Nerds in your movie you definitely can(TM)t lose. A well put together piece about a hit? and who(TM)s gonna claim it first. Simple yet complex at the same time.Comic Book Movie Plus: Ben Affleck - Daredevil, Kevin Durand - X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds - Green Lantern & X-Men Origins: WolverineNudity Bonus: Janet Edwards: Naked Prostitute (19:42/26:52)(T)

Tom B (mx) wrote: Judy Davis gives one of the most moving portrayals in support of the argument for romantic love I've ever seen. I feel great affection for her in most of her performances, but for me this one stands out. Overall a great story, great production, great film to see many times. I'm not worried about historical accuracy as to whether or not George Sand and Frederick Chopin were precisely this way and did exactly these things. It's so totally entertaining to imagine Liszt as Julian Sands plays him, and I know nothing about Alfred Musset, but Mandy Patinkin almost hilariously steals the whole show. In this instance I find the argument of the film, that love is worthwhile, is well worth whatever liberties the writer took to achieve her vision. It's beautifully written, staged, directed and played. I suppose it's a screwball comedy, but there are so many lovely layers to be distracted by, beyond the high-jinks of the characters. Yet, it does not overplay the intellect on the page, rather allows Davis to bring her own formidable intelligence to the passion she displays. Interesting, as the film is in part about performance. Entertainment for the whole family and a beautifully rendered taste of history as it might have been, with lots of great music to accompany the fun.

Ral S (mx) wrote: One of the best movies ever made. Partly because it's based on one of the best books ever written. I don't think nowadays people can make movies like this, shooting animals, and no computer effects. Such an inspirational movie. I recommend reading the book (quick 100 page read).I'm so glad the DVD finally came out...I've been waiting for that to come out since I saw the VHS and DVDs were becoming popular. I'm glad I own it...shame there's no spanish audio track, but it's great anyway!Neil Diamond's score and soundtrack are moving and excellent too!

Eugene B (us) wrote: A compelling direction just as striking as it biopic lead. Ray plucks every chord with its flawless performance from Jamie Foxx, vibrant charm and scenic story. 4.5/5

Paul K (fr) wrote: Here's a good old Brit feelgood drama that actually works. Despite the inevitability of the plot, the acting lifts this into a real human drama. Stamp and Redgrave, and Arterton, are excellent. I cried.

Patrick C (fr) wrote: Good thing I had Instagram to keep me company, it made for nice background mood music. Where's the narrative, seriously you'd expect with the actors in the movie to have some coherence, no, none at all. Confused and confusing but then again I found the Instagram explore page more Interesting.
